Spectacular Resort

Bump Hills is a magical resort overlooking Kariba. Excellent facilities and impeccable service make for a really special experience. Game guide Max took us on memorable outings from birdwatching to fishing and game viewing and there is nothing to beat a sunset over Kariba!

In the most incredible setting on the top of a hill above Lake Kariba sits one of the most beautiful safari lodges I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.
Prior to our arrival, we thought that this was a “classic” camp, but we were wrong, this is the most tastefully decorated luxurious lodge in the heart of Zimbabwe. The common areas were magnificent and the rooms as comfortable as you can imagine, with outdoor/indoor showers, beautifully appointed bathrooms and all the necessary conveniences and an unparalleled view of the lake. This was not even the best part of the place, the highlight are the people who could not do enough for us
We have visited many safari lodges but never have we met friendlier, genuine and more helpful staff. After three days together, I felt like we made some new friends who we will keep in contact with for life. Godwin is the most amazing ranger who is an encyclopedia of knowledge that he imparted with enthusiasm and passion. I knew that he really cared about this environment when he took an alternate route to avoid driving over a line of marching ants. He is also an amazing fisherman, caring and loved to learn more about us. Brian, Simba Leslie and Joyce made us feel like we were special and ensured that we had a memorable time. African Bush Camps you should be proud.

I am a tour-guide and have been to Bumi Hills four times. We were 18 people this time and several of them have been to Bumi twice or more. It must be one of the best lodges in Africa. Food, service and attention can't be better. Facilities are just great after a beautifully done renovation. The pool area, the stunning view from your room are just unbeliveable. You have to see it to belive it. The guides are execptionally knowledgable and make all the bushsafaries exciting
I am coming back with a new group again next year and look very much forward to it.

Wow wow wow!! This lodge totally blew us all away. A previous review called it the best 5 star hotel in the world. We now see why. The service and attention to detail provided by all staff is like no other we have experienced in our 20 years of travelling together. Extremely well managed by a young dynamic team who are always there 1 step ahead with our every want and need. From knowing what we like to drink before we arrived and stocking our mini bar with all our favorites (we still don't know how they knew), to having our coffee/teas brought to us at breakfast and before breakfast without having to ask just and just as we like it!

The facilities are great. Newly renovated and well maintained! (Something we found lacking at other older properties and camps we have visited). Views truly unlike any other with the most amazing outdoor showers in the rooms and the ever inviting infinity pool! There are a lot of steps to and from the rooms. My husband has difficulty walking so we recommend if you have the same issues you request a room close to the main area. The team noticed straight away and offered to move us closer.

The game viewing and activities were great. We saw lion each day, a glimpse of a leopard, Buffalo, Friendly elephant, Kudu, Waterbuck, Impala and lots more. Steve our guide was the best on our trip with an amazing amount of knowledge. He taught us lots about nature we didn't know. Considering we had been to the Kruger over 8 times we didn't think there could be much else to learn. Thank you Steve for taking us on a real adventure and for making every step of the way exciting and new. We will see you again next year as promised.

The camp also has a foundation that works with the local communities and wildlife. They also have their own anti poaching unit. And it is a big plus knowing that some of the revenue made goes back into the local communities. We didnt have enough time to visit these projects however we will be making a donation soon.

Our only regret is that we did not stay longer! It was the only African Bush Camps property we stayed at during our 10 Day Safari in Zimbabwe and how we regret not visiting their other properties. Our agent will certainly be given the feedback. And more importantly we loved it so much that we will be back next year hopefully with the grandchildren.

To Simba, Andrew, Cherish, Sheckie and the team thank you for such a memorable stay. You all made it truly memorable!

I am glad you were able to increase your wildlife knowledge, Steve is such a wonderful asset and a donation to our foundation is a hugely appreciated thank you for bringing more awareness to this wonderful cause. We do look forward to having you return to our properties in the near future, each is so unique but it is the care of our teams which makes the experience unbeatable.

The Bumi experience I can summarize as a haven in the bush. I fell in love, not only with Bumi, but with my country Zimbabwe. Such a gem so far away. Everything was perfect from the facilities, activities and the staff. This is one place where we experienced a unique consistency in service delivery from the hosting, spa, safari guides, dining etc. Im struggling to find anything to fault. My room highlight was the outdoor shower and the magnificent view of the lake from the room. Definitely going back this year and telling everyone i know that this is one of the the best places to be in Zimbabwe.

Bumi is a luxury spa lodge with a choice of wildlife-viewing activities, and many people when we visited were staying here for some R&R after a busy safari elsewhere. The view out over the lake from the beautiful pool area is stunning and there are several different lounge areas - indoors and outdoors - where you can sit and enjoy the view with a drink. Our room was very luxurious and also had an incredible vista over the lake, with scores of elephants and hippos feeding on the shoreline visible from our balcony. There is air-con and both indoor and outdoor showers. We were lucky that the rain stopped long enough for us to enjoy a sunset boat trip on the lake, where we were able to glide silently up to a bull elephant who was feeding in the water and then have sundowners in the middle of the lake as the sun dipped over the horizon. A very special experience! In keeping with the rest of the ABC camps, food and wine were excellent and varied, and the staff both friendly and efficient. The only niggle is that we did have a problem with ants in our room (room 4) which was raised with staff at the time but not effectively dealt with, and had we stayed longer than 1 night we would have asked to switch rooms. Other than that, a lovely lodge.
