We stayed three nights at Somalisa Expeditions and it was our favorite camp for so many reasons. Friendly and capable staff, delicious and plentiful food, incredible game drives and elephants entertaining you in the camp! The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and ensure that everything was perfect for our stay. We really liked the layout of the tents; they are very well decorated and designed. The bathroom was spacious (bigger than ours at home!) Our guide, David, was so knowledgable about every aspect of the bush and provided us with many unique and special game drives. When my husband came down with an infection, Tony (the camp host) called ahead and arranged for the transfer company to get him to a medical facility for an appointment en-route to our next camp. Exceptional service! We hope to return someday!

No words could describe how amazing Somalisa was during our stay there! Everything was incredible from the moment we arrived and were welcomed by the staff singing a traditional song and providing us with a refreshing beverage and cold cloth (just what we needed!). Tony was an outstanding host, very personable and attentive to your needs. Chef Sly kept our 3-course meals delicious and filling! There was always an alternative for those who have special preferences. Our tour guide, Albiot, was the best tour guide we had during our 3-week stay at multiple sites. He truly loves his job and it shows. He is just as or if not even more excited than you to find the animals haha, he is extremely knowledgable and does his best to teach you all he knows. I highly recommend Somilsa camp! I will be going back, hopefully, sometime soon! A big thanks again to the staff for giving me an exceptional stay and adventure of a lifetime.

Of the 3 safari camps we stayed at, this was hands down the best. The staff were wonderful, the accommodations great and the food fantastic. We saw a tremendous amount of wildlife and learned more than we ever could have imagined about animal, plant and insect life in the bush. I highly recommend this place. The highlight of our stay was having a romantic candlelight dinner while 7 elephants were at the waterhole only a few feet away from us. Another benefit of staying here is that your stay helps found the company’s commitment to improving the life of the villagers in the surrounding communities. After seeing what African Bush Camps does we contributed $1000 to their foundation.

I cannot summarise in one review how amazing this place is. The lodge offers luxury, wonderful food, amazing service and superb facilities. The aspect, however, that really marks this camp out as one of the most fantastic places is its people. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with warmth, sincerity and first-class hospitality.

In addition, our guide, Nkosana, was amazing. His knowledge is unrivalled and his passion for the animals infectious. This coupled with his great sense of humour turned every trip into a memorable event.

Somalisa you turned a 'once in a lifetime' trip to a holiday we could do over and over again. Thanks to you all - you truly are wonderful people.

It is hard to capture this experience in words. The people, the sights, the sounds, the wildlife are all so fantastic that is hard to describe. From first arrival you are embedded within the Hwange ecosystem. You smell nature, you see life, you hear ....... Sometimes nothing, except the odd rumble from an elephant or lion. The day starts before sunrise, breakfast around a campfire and then off to see what happened overnight. Lions feasting, elephants grazing, zebra drinking, there is no shortage of sights. Stop for morning tea, watch the baboons play. Back to camp for lunch and siesta. The afternoon programs starts as the sun starts to dip. A few giraffe pruning trees, lions sleeping and gazelle grouping together. As the sun passes the horizon, sundowners overlooking a waterhole and the park prepares for night. Back to camp and freshen up for dinner. The camp staff greet us with open arms. An abundance of culinary delights, all seasonal, some local and all delicious. Retire to the camp fire for laughs, chats, a few more drinks then off to the 6 million star sleep. Special mention to Nkosana who is a superb guide and not only found us all the wildlife but shared local stories, customs and practices which added so much to an already rich experience.
