Decided on The Beachcomber based on the reviews, location and amenities (i.e., onsite restaurant and lake front property) and the super friendly correspondence with the owner prior to arriving. A little unexpected turn of events made it that the restaurant was closed, but Mary Alice did her best to make our stay enjoyable. A bonfire was lit when we arrive back from dinner our last night there. Great recommendations were given on where to eat in the area. The Ember Woodfire Grill in Livonia was excellent! The seasonable boaters that came on and off the water were friendly as well. It was probably a blessing that the restaurant was closed because I have no idea where we would have parked if we had gone out for the evening.
At first, I was surprised how close to the road the door to the rooms were, but got over it. For the price paid, I would have expected a better mattress. It made sleeping very difficult. It was incredibly worn. The furniture was very outdated as well, but if it's clean, that is what matters.
Overall, we had a great time. If the restaurant is open and you love the nightlife, you would probably like the Beachcomber.
Mary Alice is delightful!
