“Lovely Winery, but Really More of a Restaurant”
Review of Owera Vineyards

We were driving buy Owera Vineyards and actually turned around in the road not expecting to see such a beautiful winery on a hillside. It was very busy and crowded and the parking lot quite full. We did not realize that most people were there to eat rather than sample wines, but were eventually directed to the tasting. Fortunately the wines did not disappoint. We especially enjoyed their Cabernet Franc and dry Riesling. There was a tasting fee but it was not excessive. The dining room and bar area looked inviting and comfortable and patrons appeared to be having a good time.

We stopped by this evening for wine and the delicious Owera food. Such a gem of a location. The service was lacking for such a great spot. I realize that the wait staff has their sections to service, but not only did our server not make eye contact for most of the evening, neither did the rest of the staff even as they walked back and forth by us. That seemed odd and actually rude. It is my understanding that Wednesday nights is half price glasses of wine night - I never checked the bill but the hubs thought we were charged full price...check your bill.

Again, Owera is a gem but will definitely lose business with the wait staff that was in the bar this evening.

Thank you for your comments and you are absolutely right that June 20th was not a good service night. We strive to do our best but fell short that evening for many reasons. We appreciate your constructive criticism and hope you will give us another chance. Thank you again:)

This is our family favorite and our kids 8-15 love it. They want to come here for their birthday dinners.

New menu with expanded new food.

Having a pizza lunch midday. Nice eating area with tasting room with barrels on the right side as you enter. There is a decent amount of dining room. We heard the pizza was wood fired and good; it was. Great flavor with thin crispy crust. I had the butternut squash special, great flavor. They seem to use a lot of New York local ingredients (nice). I'm a beer guy, and they had 7 or so NY local craft beers, excellent. Beautiful huge bar made of a large sliced tree trunk. Now for the wine... had a flight of 4 for $10. All were good, but I particularly liked the Frontenac Gris 2015. This one had grapes 100% from Owera. They had to be able to withstand severe cold. I'm no expert, but this white tastes like nothing I'd ever had, so unique and complex. My favorite.

visited twice in two days and was greeted bya crowded, loud, dining room and a patio with three empty tables, which, we were told, couldn't be used due to "inadequate staff" -- so the vaunted food is prepared on time, but sits around waiting for the "inadequate staff" to ste it out? A total waste of time -- one gets the attitude of exclusivity with the actuality of pseudosophistication with the actuality of bumpkin abilities -- must fool a lot of locals! Spare yourself the " 'tude from the dude" and go somewhere else...
