What can I say? The cottage is cozy and has so much character....... Michael and Sandy are warm and friendly.. the property is absolutely beautiful. Quaint little town for sure.... We were just going to check in to an econo-lodge etc. for an overnight to hike the mountains and check out the foliage - so glad we found this place. These folks are great hosts... I'll be back.

The perfect retreat from the hustle of NYC. My girlfriend and I did a quick Thursday thru Friday visit.
Was greeted by owner Michael upon arrival. He showed us the property, (huge and beautiful!) as well as gave us recommendations for attractions and restaurants in town. We went to Annarella's Itallian restaurant for dinner.
The cabin was clean and had a very comfortable bed. Adorable and classy at the same time.
We highly recommend spending a few hours in the creek, it is beyond peaceful.
Thanks again to Michael and Sandra for the early check-in and late check-out. The wine, juice, and cookies were also a delightful and very appreciated touch.
We hope to return as soon as possible!

Upon arrival, our hosts Michael and Sandy were there to greet us to show us around the grounds and to our private cottage. Once we checked in we were left to explore the grounds, just beautiful. Our cottage, three rooms, were decorated very tastefully, yet whimsical. In the main bed/sitting room there are windows all around, and when you wake in the morning, the beauty of the fall leaves were like living paintings. The fridge had juice, water, milk, and cookies. Coffee and tea were also provided. A lovely bottle of wine was also there as well. This magical place was located close to Hunter Mountain as well as Saugerties.

Liked best: the room was great, we loved our hike along the creek.
Liked least: the scatter rugs were a little slippery and a box of tissues would be nice

What a beautiful and unique vacation experience....

We spent some time looking into vacation rental properties in the Catskill area for a long weekend escape from NYC. When I found this creekside cottage on FlipKey, I thought it might be a gem so I booked quickly. And upon arrival upsate that thought was confirmed. The lush, sprawling property includes a carraige house, the main house, and the cottage, all spread out over 11 or so acres that hug the Cauterskill Creek. When turning off the road into the driveway of the property, my wife, daughter, and I all just said "wow."

Michael and Scarlett are kind and flexible hosts. I asked for an early check-in, which was no problem at all. They provided us with countless terrific recommendations on places to eat and things to do in the region. And they even invited us to stay past check-out time on our departure day. It was a joy to meet them.

The cottage has rustic charm as well as modern conveniences. The free wifi covers the whole property, and is stronger than you will find in many hotels! There is a Jack and Jill style bathroom connected to the two bedrooms, making this a great fit for small families. Connected to the cottage is a screened in porch, that's great for reading or relaxing. There is a mini fridge in that room as well as in the cottage itself, so you have plenty of space to keep drinks and snacks cool during your stay (important if you are prepping for big hiking days). Oh, and Michael and Scarlett even stock the fridge in your room with some snacks and essentials (and wine!). Very nice touch.

The creek is the big draw. You can spend a good part of a day just hiking and exploring the length of the creek: climbing the rocks, wading through the shallow water, swimming in the deeper water. It's a real treasure that is just steps from your door.

Needless to say, we hope to return. Strongly, strongly recommended.

Liked best: The creek and the sprawling land.
Liked least: Wish it was just a tad less expensive, but still worth the money.

“Escape from The City into an embodiment of coziness and comfort”

I came up here with the girl for memorial day and knew we needed some sort of glamping to ease her into the wilderness life. A tent was a large stretch, but I thought a cabin might fit the profile of what would pass for an acceptable stay for a night.

Not only did the Cottage meet our expectations but it far surpassed them. The owner contacted us before hand and made several recommendations prior to arrival. Upon arriving he greeted us with open arms and we sat and spoke with him for about 45 minutes learning of various activities to do, restaurants to eat at, hikes, etc. The cottage is clean and well maintained and so is the surrounding landscape. The views and scenery of the property itself are something to admire and you can find some peace in the Catskill region without needing to leave the property. The refrigerator was stocked with some pleasant refreshments and the cabin stocked with brochures of things to do (which we were grateful for) and the toiletries provided are all lavender. This really add to the wilderness experience and that warm home-y feel.

Essentially I started the trip with this girl who was nervous and gave me a fake excited smile prior to heading up here. By the time Michael sat and spoke to us and gave us the cottage tour her smile turned to a genuine happy loving smile. Needless to say the rest of the weekend was full of both romance and adventure (two key elements to any happy relationship).

Definitely enjoy the area and just sit and talk to the owners they are fascinating to talk to. It will make your experience that much better. In fact we are already beginning to plan our next trip up to the property.
