Owner description: Letchworth State Park, the "Grand Canyon of the East," is where a 17-mile stretch of the Genesee River roars through the park's scenic gorge with three major waterfalls and cliffs as high as 600 feet, surrounded by lush forests. Recently named Best State Park in the nation, Letchworth's new Humphrey Nature Center is a must-see. Walk the seven-mile Gorge Trail with jaw-dropping views at the overlooks or take the trail to the water's edge. I addition to trails, several hundred campsites and cabins, other amenities and activities include a pool, playground, athletic fields, festivals, cultural events, history and performing arts programs, guided walks, whitewater rafting, and hot-air ballooning.

We arrived at Letchworth on a Monday. The park was quiet. We found our campsite with no problem. It was a large level site. We did not need to do hardly any leveling of the camper. Letchworth does not have full hookups, just electric. The were water fill stations situation around our loop so we filled our freshwater tank then parked. Each loop is just the perfect size so you do not have to walk a long distance to the bath houses.

The bathrooms and showers were really clean. The bath houses had 4 showet/toilet combos and 2 additional toilets. Each was private and the shower/toilet combos were roomy.

The falls were breathtaking be sure to hike the trails to the 3 falls from the Genesseeis river.

Loved camping here!!!!!

We spent a few hours here hiking to the Lower, Middle and Upper Falls. Then we drive North to the dam at Mt. Morris. The trails are well maintained and it is easy to drive point to point. Plenty of rest areas and places to get food. We have been to Niagara Falls and the Grand Canyon, and still this was a beautiful worthwhile visit that gives you the feeling of a natural setting without the touristy vibe. Bring bug spray!

We stayed in the remote E cabins. Bathrooms and shower house were clean and spacious. Cabin area was clean, quiet and perfect to relax and enjoy nature. Hiking trails are in great shape, well spread out so they aren’t too crowded. Great park.

I'm a little biased about this place partly because I live nearby. I have been all over the U.S. and still think this is one of the best state parks as far as scenery in the U.S.! The Glen Iris Inn is world class dinning. Whether your picnicking, hiking, ballooning, snowmobiling, biking, skiing, horseback riding or whatever, this park has it all and the views to match with a train trestle, three beautiful waterfalls and more. It is the most spectacular in the fall colors!
