What an incredible magical place! It is such a wonderful spot - and I would agree it IS a Spot 'o Gold! It is cozy, but you aren't bumping into each other. Plenty of space to be together or sit in solitude, in a hammock chair, listening to the sounds of summer. it's a really short walk to the lake. Evie was wonderful with pointing out everything - there is magic, but I won't spoil the surprise! We've been renting vacation homes on Cape Cod for 15 years and decided to switch it up - so I am comparing what we needed to bring for the cape vs here. It was great not having to take all the linens up with us and Evie really has a great attention to detail and we wanted for nothing. Practical info: There's a Wegmans within 20 mins. Bring surf socks like Evie says - there's a stream out back you can go fossil hunting! We heartily recommend the Spot 'o Gold!
Awesome relaxing fun so much entertainment in the cottage and gardens. ,Evie was an angel!! Even though the weather wasn't the greatest we still enjoyed our stay. there is so much to do in the area. And ANYTHING you want to do is there !!! Canandagua lake is near and dear to my heart.. And now so is the spot
We had a great time. Hosted by a generous considerate owner. Every need was anticipated. The gardens are beautiful and magical. The home is very comfortable with a full kitchen 2 twin beds and 2 queens and a bath and a half. It has multiple decks with comfortable seating. The lake is a 2 minute mute walk with easy access and exit. We had marshmallow roasts over the fire pit almost nightly. The back deck has a large gas grill. Food shopping and restaurants are within a 20 minute drive.
We just spent a wonderful 4 days here! The gardens and the inside seem like two different styles, but do flow nicely. There is so much to look at outside it took several walks to see it all... and maybe we didn't! Inside is spotlessly clean and has cute decorations, but not cluttered at all. Evie has done an amazing job of making it homey for guests, right down to labeled bins in the bathroom of things that may be needed. She met us upon arrival and walked us through the house and made us feel very welcome! The kitchen was great. The only thing we noticed is if two couples stayed there, the privacy might be an issue upstairs. However, this is a nice out of the way place, close to water, not in the middle of town chaos, but not so far away that you feel like you can't make a trip into town.
My family and our pup had a wonderful stay here! It's very evident that Evie puts a lot of love and care into this home. There are personal decorations everywhere, and the garden is quirky and fun. The deck is amazing as well! Hammocks, comfy chairs, wind chimes and all sorts of fun goodies. There are two lovely cats that roam outside as well.
Evie herself is a wonderful and caring soul. Her warm welcome had us settling in right away! She is always close by and willing to help out, whether it's recommendations or anything else. She came right over to help us get wood for the fire pit (also, we loved the fire pit- lots of s'mores!). Most amazingly, we caught a bit of rain and just asked if Evie happened to have any umbrellas. She didn't, but a couple hours later 4 umbrellas appeared on the front porch! She had gone out to get some for us. She also tries to stock up the house with little conveniences that you might need.
The lake is a quick stroll away, and there's a tiny creek that runs through the backyard. This is a wonderful place to stay for a relaxing trip. The house is such a labor of love, and Evie herself really makes this place welcoming.
