Description: Stewart and Holly took over in September both of which have been inside the business under the previous owners. Now they have taken over the tenancy with a new menu and a local feel. The menu is stripped back to a small traditional offering with a selection of specials coming soon. A kids menu is also available aswell as a Seniors Menu. Holly's carvery has returned! Available every Sunday. There is a large front garden with alfresco dining. The pub has been refurbished inside and out to brighten up and refresh the decor. There is a huge community feel and support throughout!

Visiting relatives over Weekend and decided to have Easter lunch there. A great meal and friendly service with plenty to eat and drink, try it.

As we ordered desert my eldest, asked for gluten free brownie.
Yes I am gluten Intolerant, but I tend not to worry about it in general
However it was the slightly worried waitress asking about the fact we had not ordered gluten free main...
Awesome experience

Thank hkjay

Thank you so much for giving us your feedback, yes we take allergens very seriously and wanted to ensure that you were aware that it wasn't made aware to the waitress at the beginning of your visit that someone was gluten free.
So we needed to double check

We are very pleased you enjoyed everything!
And look forward to seeing you again soon!

Went with a group of former colleagues and had a buffet lunch. While the service was friendly the food was most disappointing and in my opinion overpriced: various sandwiches with quite nice fillings but made with horrible soft tasteless bread:why not granary or sourdough? In addition there were plates of small rather unappetising sausage rolls and some spring rolls (but no dipping sauce) as well as sticky chicken wings. There was a tiny bowl of coleslaw, totally inadequate for a group of 20 people or so. It may be that our group organiser chose this menu but even so I do not think the quality was what one should expect from a place which advertises 'delicious pub food' and at £10 per head it was poor value.
I gather the pub is under new management so they may be feeling their way but on this showing I wouldn't recommend it.

Good afternoon we thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback but would like to address that these feelings were not expressed by anyone during your visit with us. Myself and my team asked during your visit if everything was ok and the Lady who organised it said everything was lovely. If you felt you didn't receive value for money it's very important this is fed back during your visit so that someone can have the opportunity to rectify and address your concerns.
The bread used has always been used for buffets and quizzes and this is the first time we have ever heard of it being tasteless. We are a small village pub therefore sourdough or granary bread would not be cost effective. If the organiser had specified these types of bread we would of been happy to sauce them at an according price.
In regards to no dipping sauce for spring rolls this is not advertised on our buffet menu, has never been requested and was not requested for your party. Therefore there wasn't any.
As for the coleslaw we put out a small bowl at a time to ensure quality and had someone keeping an eye so when it was empty we could replenish from the kitchen.
We are under new management, myself and my other half are in charge and we have catered for plenty of events with this buffet package and this is the very first bad complaint we have had. And we are disappointed you feel this way but are positive we delivered as requested and this is a personal opinion not shared by a majority.
The £10 cost also included refillable tea and coffee in case you wasn't already aware of this.
We don't feel your comment of the buffet being a poor expression of our advertising for delicious pub food is in anyway fair or a reflection of the custom and reviews we have received so far. As you've recognised we are a PUB not a chain, not a gastro pub just a village pub that do offer PUB food that we are very proud of.
So thank you again your feedback I hope I have covered the issues raised and again wish you would of shared your concerns at the time so you left us more content and happy than you did.
Take care

I was recommended to The Chandos Arms by a friend and it certainly lived up to her reviews. Three generations of us went and the food and young owners looked after extremely well.
