“Great !!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2017 via mobile

A very unique experience - the "camp" was a 5 star resort . The accommodations were top notch and the service and food were also superb . Our safari guide Ike was a great guy and very knowledgeable . Also our water guide Sparks was a great guy . Most of the staff are from one of the 5 villages that surround the delta and all were very very nice and genuine . We took a extra excursion that I recommend ; the camp arranged for a helicopter to take our family along with Sparks to his village , it was really neat to see an authentic village and how the operate . Sparks took us to his home to meet his family and showed us around the village ( even had us meet the Cheif ) HIGHLY Recommend!!!

Thank you Coconut12345 for your beautiful review and high praises, we will be sure to share your kind words with Ike, Sparks and all the staff in camp. Community is one of the core values of Wilderness Safaris, and in such, are our neighbours - the rural communities that either own the land on which we operate or live adjacent to these areas. We aim to engage with these communities in an honest, mutually beneficial and dignified manner. (Many of our staff are drawn from these communities and thus form part of both Internal and External Communities.) Wherever possible, we offer visits to local villages and various cultural experiences in the communities adjacent to the wild areas in which we operate.

Thank you for sharing this experience with us and for helping us make a difference in these communities.

we spent some nights in 2016 and will be back in 2017. vumbura is one of those camps really taking your breath away. of course the nature at the delta itself is one-of-a-kind...but the camp really just underlines the beauty of the nature and integrates itself in it. so the camp is not "disturbing" or "mismatching" with nature...you always feel part of it. but still the design of this camp is a mix between modern and traditional style...we liked it a lot. the "rooms" are huge, built directly towards the plains. food is magic, in the evening you can choose if you like to sit on your own or if you like to join other people. lots of activities, we really couldn't find anything to complain about (ok, after some hours at vumbura you are not really searching for that ;)

This camp is something, which I did not expected in the middle of delta. It is too much of a luxury resort than a safari camp. I wish Wilderness build 2 camps in their concession, so travellers interested in nature and animals could be there in more modest accomodation but still be able to enjoy safari drives in this beautiful land with all the animals it has. Thank you ST. You are great guide.

Dear MaciejK,

Thank you for your kind review, we are glad to see you enjoyed your stay with us, even though it was more luxurious than you had hoped. Vumbura Plains is one of the Premier Camps in the Wilderness Safaris brand – meaning, it is highest level of elegance, style, and luxury accommodation. May we suggest that should you return to Botswana you try one of our Classic Camps, which sound more suited to your likes – slightly smaller, tented rooms, with the focus on a more classic safaris experience. Little Vumbura, which is found in the same concession, for example is one of our Classic Camps.

We hope this we be useful when planning your next safari, kind regards.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2016

We had two nights at Vumbura Plains North Camp in early December and it was an experience we'll never forget. The flight to Vumbura airstrip was incredible, our pilot flew low over the delta and we'd seen several herds of elephants before our feet had touched the ground.

'G' met us from there to drive us the 40 minute transfer to the camp itself and provided refreshments for the ride. The lovely Lebo then greeted us upon arrival with a warm smile and cold ginger scented towels and gave us a quick tour before introducing us to our guide Chris, who was ready to take us virtually straight out on our first drive.

Chris' knowledge of the wildlife in the delta was amazing, we learned so much about every species we encountered from the smallest birds to the elephants. He was very patient and able to meet as many of our viewing requests as we could ask for, he was especially brilliant in helping my partner improve her wildlife photography and at finding the perfect shot - a brilliant example being the time we tracked a female Leopard for over 30 minutes through thick bush, the payoff eventually coming when she finally emerged into the open bathed in the golden evening light and posed on a tree for us for unforgettable photographs.

The rooms themselves are massive and luxurious, with huge indoor and outdoor showers and plunge pools, breathtaking views over the delta and complete privacy.

The dining was exceptional - the best I've ever had on a luxury safari and the wine was also fabulous.

We couldn't believe how lucky we were to experience the serenity and beauty of such an exceptionally stunning environment, let alone whilst being pampered and living like a king and queen.

I urge everyone to visit this place - it's true what's embroidered on the back of every staff member's shirt, Wilderness journey's really do change lives!

Thank you so much to everyone who looked after us during our stay, we can't wait to come back one day.
