Great Wilderness Camp

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 31 May 2024
This was our third trip to this area in Botswana…once at Chitabe Camp and twice at Chitabe Lediba. We love to go back to this area due to the great game. We have always seen the Wild Dogs. You never have a guarantee but when making our decision we always want to come back here. The camp is casual and lovely. The typical Wilderness camp…always a lovely room, great guiding along with terrific food. We were so happy to see a guide we had 10 years ago at Savuti named Goodman. What three days great days with him. It was Steve’s birthday and we had a lovely breakfast celebration and continued the celebration at Vumbura Plains for a private dinner.
We highly recommend this camp and Wilderness..we have always booked their camps and love the hospitality.

Dear mwitul,

Thank you for the lovely review and so wonderful to hear that you keep returning to the Wilderness Chitabe's. The area is very well known for its great game viewing, amongst them being the special wild dogs.

What a special moment reconnecting with Goodman and so glad to hear that he again did not disappoint.

It was really special to be able to spoil Steve for his birthday with the breakfast celebration and to hear that it was continued at one of our other great lodges Wilderness Vumbura Plains.

We hope that we have the chance to host you again in the not to distant future.

Your in safari,
Wilderness

A stunning intimate Bush Lodge. There were pools in front of our suite which attracted an abundance of game including Lion, Leopard, elephant, buffalo and a massive assortment of antelope.

The area was teeming with game. I had lifetime best sightings of 2 cheetah kills (including the stalk, rush and kill), leopard mating by the Land Rover and lion on kills. Incredible birding.

Our guide Ebs was brilliant, excellent bird knowledge and a sixth sense as to where the animals were to be found and where they were moving.

A truly special experience in a lovely camp with fabulous attentive staff.

Room tip: The water was unseasonally low so we did not get to do the water activities. If you have the flexibility, try plan around higher water.

Dear keithw905,

Thank you so much for your beautiful words about your recent stay at Chitabe Lediba.
Chitabe is known for wonderful wildlife sightings and we are thrilled that it did not disappoint and indeed to see not one but two cheetah kills, is phenomenal.

We will be sure to share your kind words about Ebs with him and we are sure that he will be very grateful.

Hopefully you will return to the Delta again in the not to distant future, for more exciting experiences.

Kind regards,
Wilderness

We had the most incredible time at Chitabe Lediba. The luxurious tents, incredible wildlife, delicious food, and exceptional staff were all top-notch. The breathtaking pool area was a great place to relax after our morning drives.

What really made our stay so special were the people. BB, our guide, is an absolute legend. He knows the area like the back of his hand and has an incredible talent for tracking wildlife. We saw so many amazing animals and had so many unforgettable experiences with BB.

And Joyce, the manager, was just as wonderful. She is so friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.

Truly a 5-star experience all around and we could not recommend Chitabe Lediba enough.

Dear mikeleighton

Thank you for your beautiful review, we are delighted to see how much you enjoyed your time with us and will be sure to share your kind words with BB, Joyce all the staff in camp. The mix of Okavango and Kalahari makes for an excellent home for an abundant array of herbivores: giraffe, buffalo, red lechwe, tsessebe, impala and elephant, which in turn support the larger predators: lion, leopard, spotted hyaena, cheetah and wild dog.

We look forward to welcoming you back at camp again soon.

Bush regards

Chitabe/Lediba never disappoints! As a repeat guest (7 visits over the last 25 years), I can honestly say this is my most favorite place to vacation! From the moment you are greeted upon arrival to the last farewell hug, you are treated like family. Camp Managers Melosi and Joyce made sure of that along with their outstanding team. Our Guide Obie made our safari adventure just that…from birds and bugs to cats and dogs, all terrains, all weather, sunrise to sunset…thank you Obie for sharing your wealth of knowledge and your friendship! Can’t complete this review without mentioning the food. As a vegetarian, dinning out can be challenging. But the kitchen at Lediba offered up an amazing variety of fruits and vegetables and whole grains and beans, sauced and prepared to perfection! Even the “meat and potatoe” lovers amongst us were pleasantly surprised with all the delicious offerings! All in all, an excellent experience from start to finish…again! Thank you Chitabe/Lediba team and family! Until we meet again…

Room tip: Bring your sense of adventure and a good pair of binoculars!

This is a beautifully kept camp with excellent standards of Wilderness Safaris housekeeping and hospitality. Cleo, Joyce and the excellent team were kind and caring and looked after us marvellously well. Our great thanks to them.
The game was plentiful with leopards, elephants, giraffe, zebra, all manner of animals to see but the lions, the lions, stole the show. There were loads of them and active too. Mating, playing, hunting chasing impala. What sights we saw. Our great thanks to Lesh our wonderful guide for tracking them down.
