Wow. This place was AMAZING. It was the complete package. The rooms were great, but the location was superb. Watching elephants and leopards at dinner! There was a constant stream of elephants coming to the waterhole and channel throughout the day, it almost seemed as though you never had to leave your deck to go on safari.

The game drives were wonderful. Baba was one of the best guides I have come across in Africa, and this was not just due to his skill at finding animals. He was able to impart his knowledge about the bush and the Botswanan culture when the animals were "hiding", our experience with other guides is this is a skills that others do not necessarily have. Bravo to Baba! And he also makes a good Gin and Tonic for sundowners.

The staff at Savute were top class. From Michelle and MC as managers, to their trainees, Candy and Morelmi, all of the service team, the guides, and the magnificant barman/cocktail shaker Score, they were not just professionals, they welcomed everyone like family.

Oh, and the animals were great, too. Lions, elephants, leopard, zebra, giraffe, impala, lewche, waterbuck, ostrich, birds (a special mention to the lilac breasted roller and the hornbills). Baba was also mindful of things like where the best light and angle would be for photography, which was thoughtful, and great that you didn't have to ask.

I would go back to Savute in a second, given the opportunity.

Room Tip: ask for a view overlooking the waterhole

We stayed at Savute for 3 nights whch the last place we stayed. We were greeted warmly by Michelle one of the managers.
The room we had was fantastic very spacious, clean and luxurious. Our room over looked the water hole and it was great to watch the elephants every day come to drink as well as other animals.
The food was excellent and plentiful. All the staff were helpful and friendly.
Our guide Baba was great, always smiling and had a good sense of humour.
The team at savute managed by Michelle and MC were a great team. Would recommend this place without a doubt.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. It was the last stop in our 15 day-trip to Africa. We simply loved this place! The room was big and the view of the waterhole was amazing! we had elephants drinking water all day long. The service, the food and the staff were fantastic!

We stayed in Botswana for 10 days and during that time spent 2 nights at each of the Orient Express Lodges. This was our third camp and and just fantastic. After more than 25 years water was flowing in the Savute channel. Elephants were always roaming around and cooling off in the water and one afternoon one walked practically up to the tent deck whilst I was laying in the hammock. When we arrived there was a huge hippo in the water hole and the whole day there was always some animal activity taking place. The viewing was fantastic, large herds of elephants, huge kudu, leopards, also with cub, cheetah, wild dogs, just incredible!!!
The accommodation comprises of luxury tents which are on raised wooden platforms with decks for private viewing but they still manage to keep up the charm and atmosphere of a bush camp. As the tents have the same set up as the other camps we felt straight away at home. The tents are well planned with ensuite bathroom and air conditioning. They are kept very clean and the staff are efficient and very friendly. The food was delicious and a good variety was offered.
Chantelle, Steve & Phet, our hosts at Savute, gave us lots of infromation and made our stay one which will be long remember and talked about. Also Sello, our guide and tracker who was very experienced and knowledgeable made it possible for us to have such fantastic sightings. He really had the Hunters instincts which are a necessity in this game.
Thanks for a super time.

This was the last stop on our safari to Botswana, and the highlight of the trip. We just loved the room which had a waterhole meters from the front deck. Elephant would spend the whole day and into the night drinking outside. We really didn't need to leave our room to see wildlife it was literally on our doorstep.
The service was once again fantastic, all members of staff were friendly and made you feel special.
Our guide was Metal, who kept us entertained on our game drives, with stories about the history of land, the animals, the plants and even the weather. Metal was extremely considerate of everyone and was a wealth of knowledge.
A very BIG thank you to the staff at Savute, especially, Setch, John and Metal. You will always have a special place in our hearts and we hope that one day we will be able to return.
We booked our trip through Safari Online and would definitely use them again, we would not hesitate to recommend them. Our transfers went without any problems and all our lodges were first class.
