A wonderful lodge where rooms are very big, super clean and in a peaceful garden surrounded by the magnificent Chobe river. All personnel and wildlife guides are super kind and very expert. Don’t miss the possibility of a private cruise on Chobe River!

Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero is exactly that, a sanctuary.
The sunsets on the Chobe river are quite nice to see the bright colours. The mongoose, deer and other wildlife add to the charm of this place. The rooms were gorgeous and comfortable. The game and boat drives were great, we got to see lions take down a buffalo and also saw several elephants and hippos spending much of their day in the water. Beautiful and very relaxing accomodations, also, Chicka was a great guide who showed great respect for all the animals.

Starting with our stay at the Sanctuary Chilwero Lodge on the Chobe River in Botswana, it was an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. The lodge is designed, with beautiful views of the surrounding wilderness and the river. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.

One of the highlights of our stay was the river cruises along the Chobe River, which gave us the opportunity to see an incredible array of wildlife, including so many elephants, hippos, and crocodiles. Our guide was friendly and knowledgable.

The food was delicious and the service was impeccable, making our stay at the Sanctuary Lodge on the Chobe River unforgettable.

Being in Chobe National Park, the guides can’t go off the dirt roads to track or get closer to the game. The best part of the animal experience is found on the river cruises. The boats can get quite close (but still in a safe manner) to the hippos, elephants, crocs, etc.
Our game guide/driver was Bobby and he was excellent in all aspects. The accommodations are luxurious and it was so nice to have our laundry done each day.

Room tip: Spend your time on the water, not riding in the land cruisers. They have to stay on the small roads and can’t get close to the game.

We spent 3 nights here on our tour of Southern Africa, and were initially wondering if it was going to be too similar to the other lodges we had stayed at. We shouldn't have worried - this place is one-of-a-kind!

First, the setting on the river is spectacular, and provides all sorts of different views and perspectives being in a boat vs being in a Jeep. Our guide Tim was very knowledgeable and even managed to get us to the right place at the right time to witness some lionesses stalking a warthog family. The circle of life. He was obviously very passionate about nature and our the beauty of our surroundings.

The lodge itself was lovely. Nice view from our deck, and it was fun to see elephants ambling by, baboons cavorting on the lawn, and some cheeky mongoose checking us out. The food was great, and we really enjoyed the buffet-style meals, including an African-style BBQ cookout, and make-your-own pizzas!

The spa was a little disappointing - the facilities were kind of run down and the massages were just mediocre, but that didn’t dampen the enjoyment of our stay, as the lodge delivered on all the important aspects of safari life!
