This is a marvelous mobile tented in the Savute park. The tents are very comfortable with a proper bed, furniture and even a flush toilet and bucket shower and wash hand basin. The food is terrific. First time I have ever had fried eggs done inside an onion ring - YUM!! Cakes, bread and everything is turned out over camp fires. Our guide was marvelous and we had terrific lion sightings.

My wife and stayed for 3 nights in November 2016 in Savute under Canvas.

But before I summarize please consider that this is a tented camp which has to move approx. every week to a new place - also far away from a permanent camp. During our stay we were in a very sandy area. And it was really hot approx. 38 degrees Celsius.

After a 24 hours trip to Savute, our guide Morenga expected us at the airstrip. And we immediately enjoyed our first game drive. Elephants, Lions, Impalas and wild dogs on the 1st afternoon.
Once arrived at the camp we were welcomed by the whole team. The tent was quite big. A bush shower and toilet were installed at the back of the tent. There was no power in the tent. The source of power was a car battery. After the 1st bush shower we went towards the dinning tent where we had some drinks together with the other 4 guests. And than we enjoyed a wonderful dinner together with the guides and the management of the camp.

Next morning 05:00 we got a "Wake Up" call. They brought hot water to wash us. After a small breakfast we started the game drives always at 06:00. 1st location was almost every time the waterhole - the hotspot - in that dry area.

And on every game drive we saw something new like Roan antelope, hypos, several birds etc. The only animal we did not see in Savute was the Leopard. We saw tracks - but we were not able to spot them.

So it was a really nice experience and everybody did his very best in order to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

We went to Savuti in the month of September. It's a dry land and very hot.... But you will be amazed what wildlife you gonna see. Elephants (a lot) at the waterholes, the famous Savuti lionpride, warthog, vulture, buffalo... We had the luck to see the wild dogs. The Camp is very basic, low eco footprint. But the staff is doing a fantastic job! Very friendly and helpfull. And they do magic in the kitchen, great food !!! Recommended !!

Room tip: only 4 tents, all with the same fantastic view!

When we were there it was around 40 degrees Celsius, far hotter than we are used too. However, it was so worth it, the camp is small and it makes for a sense of community. You sit around the campfire at night and learn what people in the other vehicle saw that day. You are also all eating on a long table which makes for lively conversation. The guides are also there for drinks and the meals and they join in the conversations and often we learned just as much at these times as in the vehicle. There was a great sense of community.
The tents had lots of ventilation and usually there would be a little breeze at night. The tents are large and have real beds in them. There is a real flush toilet and bucket shower that holds enough water for both of us to take one and the bucket would be refilled several times. The meals that were prepared in the middle of nowhere were fantastic, we really liked the soups and the homemade bread was great and we have never been able to find anything like it.
Most important were the drives. We left at 6 each morning and often our first stop was the water hole to see what happened overnight: did the hippo survive, did the lions catch anything, how hungry were they now. It was a great spot for the interplay between the animals. Our guide, Katembo, was very knowledgeable and fun, we learned lots on our stay, especially his obvious love of the animals and the country. We were lucky to have him as he was helping out where regular staff was off. His normal venue is expedition and if I would come back for a second safari the I would definitely look into that one. Could write forever but one last item. Every day we saw the elephants walking past the tent on the way to the water hole. We saw many animal just meters away, it was truly amazing

This tented camp of 3 -5 tents is located in the Savute area of the Chobe National Park and due to park regulations moves every five days to another location. During our stay, the camp was situated right at the erratic Savute channel which was however dry at the time (late July) and I believe has been for a while.

Of all the camps of our vacation, this was the one we had the least expectations of, partly because we did not know how the area and wildlife would be and how basic the camp itself would be due to being a mobile one. As much more was our delight when we arrived, met the staff and went on our first safari with our guide. And it constantly grew throughout our stay. Savute under Canvas is an extremely well run camp thanks to Daniel, the manager, with a wonderfully dedicated and attentive staff. As an example, sometime during our first afternoon, we had a minor problem with our toilet. The staff instantly set out to fix the problem (competently and successfully) and repeatedly made sure we had no further problems. Guiding by Morronse was superb.

Though wildlife concentrated mainly on the waterholes due to the general aridity at the time, we saw a lot of interaction there between elephants, a pride of lions having killed a buffalo, and a fit of jealousy between two male and a female jackal. The only reservation we had was that we were there too early in the year because the great herds of wildebeest and zebras had not move in yet from the north.

This was, however, fully compensated by the great dedication and enthusiasm of the people at Savute under Canvas. Not only did they know their trade, they were also extremely interesting to talk to. They gave us more the feeling of being on a safari with friends than being guests which was great. Compared to some other locations, especially in the Delta, the camp might not be located at the most stunning place, but the facilities were immaculate and the tents were furnished with great love to detail. The washing table certainly provided an aura of Out Of Africa. Other reviewers have noted that the tents were in need of repair. When we stayed there in late of July, the tents appeared quite new to us. Also, we have read occasionally that the food was more on the simple side. We can only disagree. The food was varied, plenty and excellent even compared to more expensive camps we visited and even more so considering the fact that everything was cooked on open fire from breakfast , afternoon tea with cakes to three-course dinner. We can only hold the master chef in our highest regard.

All in all, andBeyond made a very good impression on us as a safari travel company with selected personnel, great attention to detail and the right focus on what makes a genuine safari experience.
Highly recommended.
