Our stay at the Queen in Calitzdorp was very pleasant and we enjoyed the friendly and relaxing atmosphere. The cooling down in the outdoor swimming pool was perfect for the hot summer day. We can recommend others to stay at the Queen in Calitzdorp.

I missed only Twitter things:
1.) Opportunity to have Drinks and to have small Snacks in the afternoon to the evening.
2.) Balkony on the Opposition side of the House needs a sunroof. Otherwise to hot on day.

Dear Manuel,

Thank you for your review.

We have noted your comment on cover over the balcony and have since resolved this concern. Drinks and platters are served until 7pm each evening and I do apologise that you were not made aware of this.

We hope you will be visiting us again in future

Its well located and a clean property. The service was also very good. Recommended for a leisure holiday. A room with a view would have enhanced the stay tremendously. Walking distance to restaurants.

Many thanks for taking the time to review us and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Our Exclusive rooms have a view of the pool and garden. The Deluxe rooms have views of either Boplaas Family Vineyards or across the town towards the Swartberg Mountains. We hope to see you again and when you do visit please let us know which view you would prefer.

This was our first visit to Calitzdorp, somewhere that we had driven through on two previous visits to the Western Cape without giving it a second glance - largely because of the un-inviting frontage lining Route 62. How wrong we were - it is a charming town with many carefully maintained late C19th / early C20th properties on quiet back streets and a couple of top-notch vineyards producing excellent port-style wines.

The Queen of Caltizdorp was a gem of hotel - apparently only recently re-opened after a major investment programme by it's Swiss owners. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the rooms are cool, comfortable and well equipped and the hotel offers secure parking, a guest swimming pool, a pleasant lounge area and a shady breakfast terrace. The only slight drawback is that this is currently just a bed and breakfast hotel with no evening food available on site. The staff were happy to recommend alternative restaurants in and around Calitzdorp (and organise table reservations for us) but I think that they are missing out on a major opportunity by not making more use of their own kitchen and dining facilities. This minor gripe aside, The Queen of Calitzdorp was a lovely hotel that we would be very happy to return to and recommend to others.

Good morning and thank you for your review.

We currently do not have lunches and dinners available as a rule but who knows what the future holds.

Calitzdorp is a hidden gem and it seems you are now as hooked as we are. It's a wonderful town to visit or call home.

Come again soon.

Excellent little hotel which punches well above it's weight for quality and service. We arrived on a really hot sunday afternoon and the excellent manageress soon sorted the paperwork and room details complete with details about service after 7pm !!!!
More importantly she pointed us in the right direction for beer wine and food at the excellent Boplass bistro few steps down the road . After this a rest and a swim and a chat to other guests rounded off a splendid afternoon. Leanne recommend Die Handlehuis for food in the evening and this proofed to be a quirky atmospheric cafe /diner come museum.
Finally next morning we had an excellent breakfast outside on the terrace. A great place to stay .
