We visited Tonteldoos and were entertained with stories of the area and everything that is happening here. unfortunately not there for the show they were preparing for.

On a late Sunday morning we found our way to The Cat & The Cow. Wow! It was worth the drive over from Dullstroom. I had a huge omelette filled with homemade cream cheese, sun dried tomatoes, feta and bacon. Best omelette EVER! My husband had a fettuccini with smoked trout that he really enjoyed. We also had a large bowl of green salad with all ingredients fresh from the garden out back. I also heard that the lamb curry is excellent and sells out quickly. We sat outside on the front porch. There is also seating on the back porch and inside. We had a lovely visit with the owner and chef, Liz, which made the meal twice as fun. If this cafe was in America there would be a queue to get in all weekend long! Bravo Liz!

Beautiful & interesting little place to visit. But felt taken for a ride when we saw the bill.
We were charged R30 a pancake, .... ridiculous like Liz said when we phoned her afterwards to make sure that we were charged correctly as there are no menus...... and she was not on the farm to assist.
We made payment directly into her bank account as there was no card machine and we didn't have enough cash on us to pay for the expensive pancakes and the other goodies we bought.
Friendly as she is, Liz offered to make up for this, but up until now we only get excuses.
Any visitors to Tonteldoos, please go and see this lovely little place ... but make sure about the prices when you order, so you don't get a shock later that really spoils the experience.

This restaurant is worth making a trip from Dullstroom to. Very nice and attentive hostess, feesh products from her or neighbors' farms. Organic salad from their garden was georgous, so as trout and moked pork. Absolutelly recommended.
