We were staying at the Critchley Hackle hotel and felt compelled to spend an evening in - dining at the local restaurant.
While I generally steer away from eating "in house" due to complacent chefs, I thought we could give it a try.
Remembering that we generally ate breakfast in the same space, the early morning omelets were perfect in every way.
While the service by surly staff is a bit of a deterrent, the offering is well-thought out and beautifully presented. For dinner you can select from options in a three or four course meal.
I ordered the lamb shank while my partner ordered the trout. Both meals were spectacular and we enjoyed them thoroughly.
The desert, however, was lackluster with the "Malva pudding" dry and stale - a terrible let down to a potentially stellar meal. Make a turn there if you are in the area - you could do worse!
