Ou family stayed at Stone Lodge. Big house that sleeps 8. Dining room and kitchen tables to seat everyone. Lounge is comfortable by the fire place.
Was a miserable, rainy weekend outside, but inside was warm, beautifully decorated, enough space in the kitchen, lviving areas were comfortable & bedrooms were clean and pretty. (Not the perfect unit with small kids or elderly guests as the stairs are extrememly steep and narrow.)
The surrounding views are breathtakingly beautiful!
Staff are so helpful and friendly, they even lit the fireplace for us!
BUT... my husband, daughter and myself heard footsteps on the stairs whilst watching TV upstairs - and there was nobody else. We definately had this uneasy "feeling" that we weren't alone. (We are not superstitious or ghost hunters etc.)
During the night again my husband heard someone walking, thought it was our daughter (11). He called her and when she didnt respond he went to investigate just to find her sleeping.
Our 2-year old went to sleep also upstairs next to the TV-room, and within an hour she started screaming hysterically and just wanted to get out of the room. This is very unlike of her. She was extremely scared and clung onto me to get away from the room she was sleeping in. It took us over an hour to calm her down. When we went to bed she started crying again, and she kept hiding her face in the pillow but holding onto us for dear life. She sobbed the whole night through, she was terrified! (This hasnt happened to us before or after Elands Valley - we travel quite frequently).
We left the next day as the kids were reluctant to be on their own in any of the rooms. Dont know what it was we heard, or even if she "saw" something, but this experience was enough not to return here.
