Owner description: The Dullstroom Bird Of Prey & Rehabilitation Centre strives to educate the public on the plight of raptors. We provide flying demonstrations, handling and photographic days to the public as part of our educational drive. We have a self guided tour through our resident birds, each with its own history of how they came to be at the Centre. We rehabilitate injured wildlife and also breed and release raptors back into the wild. Flying demonstrations are strictly weather permitting and start at 10h30 and 14h30 Wed- Mon. Please come earlier as it is a fair walk to the demonstration area. The demonstration area is outside with no shade so remember hats, sunscreen in summer. Centre is closed on Tuesdays unless it falls on a public holiday. We are a registered non-profit Trust and do not receive financial assistance from the government. Our existence and survival is solely dependent on the entrance fees, donations and sponsorships of you our visitors.

This was my second visit to Dullstroom Birds of Prey Rehabilitation Centre, this one with my wife. It was just as great as the first visit. The area is well maintained, and the bird show still entertaining. Was looking forward to seeing the Perigan falcon as with my first visit, but was not dissapoinnted with the replacement, the secretary bird, Rooney. Was saddened to hear of the passing of my favourite, the majestic African Fish Eagle, Bono.
The guys here do great work inn rehabilitating injured birds, and taking care of the ones with human imprints that will not manage in the wild, while at the same time, educating people on these wonderful creatures. Keep it up, will visit again.
Lastly, the bird show is about an hour, and there is no shade, so pack sun screen!

The staff here clearly love the birds they are rehabilitating. The flying demonstrations were awesome - low flying silent owl and peregrine falcon scare of heights ! Wonderful place, great to spend and hour walking around and have a coffee or something enticing to eat, but even better if you can time it to see an educational and very enjoyable display.

The show was amazing with a few unplanned visits from the local winged predators in the area. The handler was funny and informative and gave the guests both young and old the opportunity to take pics with the birds

If you love animals, then I guarantee - 100% - that you will love watching a flight display at the Dullstroom Birds of Prey Rehabilitation Centre. My husband, daughter and I attended a demonstration last week on our way to catch a plane back to the US after a wonderful safari in the Timbavati -- and making the stop at Dullstroom was one of the best decisions we have made in a long time.

I want to make a special point of praising the falconer, Magdali. She is absolutely gifted in her bird handling skills. I really cannot praise her adequately. We were deeply impressed by her ability to "read" the birds and understand their emotions.. She clearly had the highest respect and affection for them – and they loved her too.

Luckily all three of us had the thrilling experience of having a jackal buzzard and eagle owl fly to our gloved hands. What a treat that was! Since returning home, we have watched our videos of our little falconry apprenticeships again and again. :)

It is clear that the Birds of Prey Rehabilitation Centre is doing a wonderful job of rehabilitating and helping birds. We were impressed to hear about the large numbers of birds they are able to return to the wild each year.

I am so grateful we had the opportunity to visit. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable experience! If we are fortunate enough to return to South Africa, we will definitely come to the centre again!

The Birds of Prey Centre is worth a visit, particularly for children, so that they can see raptors up close and learn something about them.
I would recommend a visit.
