The Highlander Hotel

Certificate of Excellence

Some establishments can go and learn some hospitality ethics from The Highlander staff.
On our arrival we were greeted like we were "regulars". The room I booked was the one I got. Not like other (booking.com )bookings that you end up not getting close to what you've booked. Thus ending up in a negative review.
Since we had a big lunch, we at dinner time enquired whether we had to have the "set menu" to which they responded that we can have anything from the menu and get charged accordingly.
During dinner we constantly had staff enquiring whether everything was alright. Impressive!
The same applied for breakfast.
I can highly recommend this Hotel as their staff is very tentative and their accommodation is of high standard.

We booked a Superior room as it was our anniversary and we wanted to spoil ourselves
We weren't disappointed The room was lovely and very spacious
The staff at the Highlander are awesome everyone was beyond helpful
The breakfast was really nice and varied over the two nights we stayed
We arrived in at 855pm and asked for a cheese board and the staff were very accommodating even though the kitchen closed at 0900pm
We will come back it's a really nice hire with great staff

One of the the best restaurants in the village. Staff are fantastic. Highly recommended for a short stay away from Gauteng. Rooms at a good size as well. A two hour drive from JHB. Heated pool - awesome bar - did I mention the staff are fantastic

This was the worst hotel we've ever stayed at. Full of flies and insects in the ceiling and when we tell the porter he just tells us to use the insect spray in the room. If we had come to stay here 40 years ago, it would probably have been nice, but nothing seems to have been done to furniture, bed and bathroom since then. Even the bed linen seemed to have been used since a very long time ago and the napkins which we got at breakfast were so used that there were holes in them. We expexted a 4-star hotel which we paid for but got a 2-star hotel at the most, which should have cost us less than half of what we paid. We are very dissapointed and feel that we have been "tricked" into booking this hotel. The bartender was a nice exception to the very bad experience of this hotel.
