We have travelled to many bush lodges and game parks across South Africa, and we agreed that this was probably one of our favourite trips. It ticked so many boxes. Impodimo lodge is beautiful, there is plenty of chill areas, a lovely pool and a massage room seperate in the bush. Great view of waterhole from main lodge. There is also a really nice hide that has aircon and drinks, where you can spend some time comfortably. Game viewing was exceptional. We had some amazing sightings. Game vehicles were comfortable and the coffee and sundowner stops were always a treat. We had a knowledgeable game ranger and tracker. Some of our best sightings to date!
Our room was spacious and beautiful. We had a patio view of the bush and often saw animals from there during the day passing by. Especially Elephants making their way to the watering hole. Bed was very comfortable and the bath tub and outside shower were really nice.
Breakfasts were scrumptious and a lot on offer. Tea in the afternoon was filled with many treats to choose from. Dinners were divine and filling. Great wine selection.
What really made this trip extra special was the service and hospitality. It was really amazing. Always willing to help, always available for any needs. Always friendly. I think because it’s not a large lodge, the attention is more focused and of better quality. I like to say it’s a boutique lodge.
We are looking forward to our next stay here and couldn’t recommend it enough.

Room tip: Remember a beanie and a very warm jacket for game drives, it is quite cold early morning and at night returning from evening game drive.

I can only reiterate what many others have written about Impodimo Lodge, what an incredible experience !
Our guide Sam and tracker Lotts worked so well as a team and were able to get us very very close to many animals. We were able to take incredible close photos thanks to them.
All members of staff who cared for us at the lodge deserve huge credit for the services they provided. The lodge itself has a wonderful layout from the main reception building to the shirt walks to accommodation. The hide which provided comfortable viewing adjacent the water hole allowed close ups of visiting animals we simply would not have ever get so close to.
Our room number 4 - like their rooms - was so comfortable and we were able to see passing elephants, Kudu, Impala and baboons etc from the comfort of our own patio area. We thank everyone at the lodge for a fantastic experience and would recommend the lodge to anyone considering viewing game close up and enjoy the great food service and architecture there.

We really had the most wonderful three days at Impodimo. The staff were amazing, the food was fabulous and the wildlife at times made us very emotional - to be so close to them and surrounded by the amazing knowledge was awesome. Our rooms were fantastic too but we were out exploring so much of the time that we didn’t get to make the most of the comfort in the room. And as for Ruben and Sam who were our guides - they were just the best! We really really want to go back!

An "amazing and memorable" visit to Impodimo game lodge. I was there with my family recently. We have not been able to stop talking about Impodimo since we left.

Lyné and her staff / team, with their prompt attention made the stay very enjoyable, worry free and memorable. Our guide Meri and our tracker Heron were like family. They were our guides on the game drives for the few days. The food, drinks, ambience, (sundowners + coffee break on the drives inclusive) added with our beautiful rooms are now lifetime / incredible memories. This is a gem of a lodge tucked away at Madikwe game reserve on the Botswana side. We saw all top game and more. We could have spent many more days. Thank you Impodimo !!! Until next time.....

Room tip: Transfers can be arranged from Johannesburg by the Lodge. About a little over 4 hour drive. Also Gaborone the capital of Botswana is closer

We had a great experience at Impodimo in February for 3 nights. I flew in with Federal Airlines rather than face a grueling 5 hour drive each way. We were met by Ryan who was our guide for 6 game drives. It went in February which is not the best time as it had been raining and the brush was thick but we still saw a lot of game.
Impodimo gave us excellent accommodation in Cabin 2 which I recommend as it has a view over the waterhole. Our room was very spacious and luxurious with bath; shower and outside shower. It had a magnificent deck to view the waterhole and relax. There were mosquito nets but we didn't see mosquitos. The lodge itself was great and the owner Steve was there and very interesting and talkative. All the staff was fantastic and could not do enough for everybody. Dinner was communal with gourmet food. They took orders from an extensive menu during the day and would even make you food of your own request. Game like Kudu was often on the menu. All drinks and wine was included. Game drives were at 5.30am and 4.30pm and about 3.5 hours long. Even though it was February it was chilly in the morning and after dark. Blankets are provided. One evening we got caught in rainstorm and the jeeps had ponchos but we still got wet. During each game drive they stop and set up a table for drinks and snacks which is a very nice interlude in the bush.
Our guide Ryan was excellent and a fount of knowledge. One of the advantages of Impodimo over other game lodges is that they have a guide and a tracker on each vehicle so the tracker can spot additional game. The guides have radios and a system where vehicles converge and take turns when one spots something of interest. One night a number of vehicles chased a pack of wild dogs through the bush!
I highly recommend them. Some additional items:

- the wifi worked fairly well. Not sure you could work effectively.
- we went on a walk in the bush with Ryan which was amazing. Seeing things and plants on the ground show the eco system. Just request it if you go.
- Madikwe has an east and a west side. Impodimo is west with thicker brush. There is a river on the east side with hippos. Generally the game is the same from what I gather but do your own research.
- Impodimo jeeps seat 10 but we never had more than 8. Steve believes a top restricts the view and I agree so their jeeps are uncovered. Other lodges have covered jeeps.
- we saw everything but leopard but I met tourists at the airstrip who saw 4 leopard on the east side.
- Impodimo has game walking through it from the water hole. I saw a herd of elephants walk through the lodge
