People should actually be paid to visit Legend Golf & Safari!!! Traveling almost three hours to a shambolic weekend away is plain upsetting!!!
Where do we even begin?!?!
Signage is very bad leading into the lodge and all around. The staff is also not very good with giving directions within the property.
Sparse information is offered during the check in process. If you don’t ask, you won’t find out. There’s no information book in the room to fill this very glaring gap in service!
Enter the room...more disappointment.
The room was clearly booked for a couple (Mr & Mrs). Two single beds pushed together, single size bedding, no effort to supplement bedding with large sheets and covers to make it a double bed. There is no view to talk about from the rooms...see pictures of the view in my review.
Our written request for a special celebration ideas and for the mini bar to be stocked with our listed items seems to have been ignored. The bar fridge in the room has two lonely beers on our arrival. Upon enquiry there’s an effortless scramble to get the restaurant to supply the requested items. This never happens at all.
Supplies in the bathroom are almost nonexistent. No shower caps. One little bar of soap is supplied together with bath gel and shampoo. Nothing here says 5 star. No bin in the bathroom. Fortunately we’ve brought a full pack of toiletries.
Toilet bowl has marks that can easily be cleaned with thick bleach. This seems to be the standard even at the restaurant bathrooms.
Shortly after check in we decide to go for dinner at the only operating restaurant. There’s a set menu of R225 offering very limited options. A sad looking salad for starters. Steak or chicken breast for main and the show stopper dessert of ice cream (full of ice crystals) and fruit salad. The bar keeps running out of things during this sitting...the lemon is finished, the spirit you were having is finished, and so on!
We return to the room to find Tv, WiFi & phone not working. They were working just fine when we left for dinner. We wait for the maintenance guy to come after calling reception from a cellphone. The guy never pitches even after we follow up a few times. This happened on the second night too. This time we drove to reception to find out what the problem was. Eventually the guy came and went to reset the services. We suspect there’s a time out period for these services everyday. Why???
Breakfast is probably the most decent meal at the resort. The best thing on offer is the chili. Dinner on day two was a very basic buffet which at the very best a meal to satisfy hunger but not exciting with trifle and fruit for dessert.
The staff at Legend is very demotivated and not equipped to deal with guest queries. Management is not where to be seen to help the staff with these issues. On our second night we witnessed staff dealing with a guest service issue not too far from our table. It took more than an hour of exchanges between the staff and the guests up until they left.
The lodge seems to be running on autopilot...someone there needs to decide if they should maybe not close it and regroup, it’s is a definite no no! I would not recommend Legend to anyone even if you were paid to visit there!
