We spent three nights at Umlani bush camp in the company of outstanding people who made our experience so memorable. The food was great, the guides were amazing and the overall service was excellent. The atmosphere was so relaxing and the safari drives were exiting and never a disappointment. We even spent a night in the tree house, now that's an experience of a lifetime! Our trip to Umlani was arranged by Uyaphi; they made sure that travel to and from the airport was seamless and followed up with us to be sure that everything was great, and it was! Highly recommend Umlani Bush camp to those who want to explore Africa wild!

Room tip: This is a bush camp, not a hotel!

We're home again after a four week holiday, the highlight of which was three nights at Umlani Bushcamp. I really didn't want to go but my husband did so I tagged along - very fortunately! It really was the most marvellous experience and I just don't know where to start. We were so lucky to see "The BIg Five" thanks to our guide and spotter, the safari drives were very exciting and sometimes a bit scary, such as getting close to a herd of buffalo or elephant but we had every faith in our guide who was so experienced. His knowledge of the bush and animals was amazing. It was quite something to see the animals in their natural habitat and to have a leopard walking around our jeep, close enough to touch her (we didn't!).

The early morning safari started with hot chocolate and pancakes in front of the wood fire, then luckily, in the jeep we had "bush babies" (hot water bottles) and blankets to keep us warm, it was quite cold at 6am! We could suit ourselves during the days until the evening safari so had time to use the outdoor showers then rest in our rondavel or sit on the deck with a glass of wine and look out for the animals wandering around the camp. During the evening safari we stopped for a "sundowner" (at sundown) and watched the sun set. Back at the camp,a delicious dinner was ready for us in the dining area which was beautifully lit with masses of candles and oil lamps, Being without electricity was very peaceful and relaxing.

The staff couldn't have been more charming, agreeable and hospitable. We had a wonderful time I'd really recommend Umlani and would love to go back.

Room tip: All rooms the same apart from being suitable for number of guests

We absolutely loved Umlani, the wildlife we saw in 4 days was amazing and the people were all fantastic. The food was exceptional. We couldn't wait for our next game drive and wished we could have stayed longer - we will be back!

This is not roughing it, even though there is no electricity (other than for charging batteries) the rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. I honestly preferred the lack of electricity, it was very peaceful. From the lunch deck we saw giraffes, elephants and antelope.

On our safari drives we saw lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, all kinds of antelope, elephants and so much more. Sadly we did not see a rhino but it is just luck to see them. We did see them in Kruger though.

Over all I highly recommend Umlani and will be back.

My family and friends were there in January. I didn't know what to expect, but once we arrived we felt so welcome by the staff and by nature. The experience will stay in my mind forever, just as my first time in Machu Picchu has withstood the 40 years of memories. It's a mystical experience made possible by the expert safari guides, staff at the bush camp, the surrounding beauty, and comfortable accommodations. Did not miss any of the electronic gadgets that surround my every day life in the States.

Thank you for your great review of Umlani we (the team) are pleased you appreciated your stay with us. And that your experience of Umlani will stay in your mind forever. Its a great honour that you compared it to a visit to Muchu Picchu. I would like to some day visit Muchu Picchu to.
All the best Marco

I spent three days at Umlani and didn't want to leave!! I loved every minute of it, the game drives, the food, the hospitality, the accommodation, the pools - the wild animals roaming around - it was the experience of a lifetime. Given the opportunity, I'll be back!
