My husband and I recently spent 4 wonderful nights at Umlani. From our first contact (with Nanette) to our last moment at the camp, we were thoroughly spoilt by every member of staff. We loved our thatched-roof hut with oil lamps, shower under the stars and animals/birds just outside.

Thanks to the knowledge and expertise of our Ranger and Spotter (who was in the line of many spider webs and prickly bushes), we got up close to the most elusive animals - lions, white lionesses, cheetah mum with cubs, leopards etc etc on our morning and afternoon game drives. Morning coffee and sundowner drinks 'in the wild' topped off the experience.

We were treated to 3 fantastic meals every day, with lunch and dinner being heralded in with the rhythmic beating of the drum. We were very privileged to have bobotjie for our last lunch at the camp (thank you cook for changing days for us)! Must have been frustrating for the staff when the monkeys upset the breakfast cereal, but this only added to our Africa experience.

Marco, Nanette, Joana and Karin attended to every detail of our stay and we loved it when they joined us at meal times and shared their Africa with us. We also felt very special when we were the first to walk on the freshly raked path to our hut after the morning game drive - thanks to the ground staff for this!

It was lovely to lap up all the wonderful things Umlani had to offer, but if you can also give back a little something, it will add a whole new level to your experience. Thank you Umlani - don't change a thing!

Room tip: Every hut in this bush camp is fantastic.

Our hosts at Umlani couldn't have looked after us better - thanks Nanette, Marco, Joanna, Kyra and all. The thoughtful care, the food, the friendliness, and of course the excellent tracking skills of our driver and guide, made this an incredible experience; we saw so many amazing animal antics and so much bird life in our four days that it was hard to keep up. Now I know why people go back to the Kruger area again and again. We had a great night sleeping out in the treehouse above the nearby watering hole - while wild animals ripped each other apart down below. Having no electricity and relying on paraffin lamps, candles and torches at night all added to the fun and charm. Umlani you have struck the perfect balance - we look forward to coming back!

We stayed for 5 nights and had the most brilliant time imaginable. Everything was just perfect, including a riverbed dinner that was beyond words. The whole team at Umlani is at your service and you really feel like you are part of a family. The rustic camp makes you feel like you are part of the African bush with something happening all the time and new animal arrivals to and around the camp. This is a place of pure magic. Our ranger and trackers passed on so much information that was new and interesting, again making the whole game drives fabulous. We saw rhino, white lions and leopard and her cub on a kill and the wide range of buck that are part of the bush. With each drive we learned more and experienced such wonders. Then to be welcomed back to camp after such adventures with superb food and friendly staff. How can you not fall in love with this beautiful, unique place. A sincere thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this magic with us. The whole experience was faultless and I hope to return back to you in the future. This is a 5 star place and REAL Africa.

Beyond the friendliness and hospitality of the whole staff, we appreciated how the two rangers who were showing us around (Amos and Andrew) were experts at finding the animals to watch. We spent 3 fantastic days observing elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, or rhinos... Absolutely loved it.
