The Timbavati and Safari experience is great! We had an excellent guide in Kruger, who can tell you about the Fauna and Flora - not just point out the obvious. The family rooms on the other hand are rather sparse and pokey. Most lodges at least offer you a chair to sit on. The bathroom was really luxurious compared to the rest. We were in Buffalo - bad choice! Right next to the main dining area. The one night we had to endure the noise from the dining area till well after 1am. The units are really close together and offer little privacy. In our case - the dining area looked onto our deck. Children’s activities are available (and great), but they are not offered and you have to ask for them. The meals were nothing to write home about. Not bad, but nothing special. Meal times are also quite rigid, especially considering the 5am wakeup call for game drives. Breakfast starting around 9:30 – 10. Lunch at 2pm, afternoon tea at 4pm and dinner only starting at 8pm. All in all, it was an overpriced experience. Hilltop Lodge seamed much better spaced, but they don’t cater for children.More
