Flying in from J-burg, i look out on a world that glows with the flaming intensity of Oz's Red centre. Savannah is broken by sheer rocky escarpments, all beaten down to red clay over the aeons. Arriving at Hoedspruit airport i am struck by the fashion collective worn by fellow holiday folk. Calico-coloured Gore-Tex trousers that zip off at the knee, compete in riotous colour from the Milan catwalk. Picture 3000 of these arriving to Kruger National Park every day.
But here, it promises something more intimate. No insulation from the dangers of the wild, Camp Jabulani allows us to walk amongst the animals, albeit, behind a guide with a rifle big enough to slow down a charging rhino.
We tip-toe round a row of low trees and come face-to face with the reason we came here for. Jubulani melts our hearts, his trunk swinging hypnotically, as the sun sets besides the dark outline of the mountains, a fiery red reflected in the pond where the herd drink. There is no redder sun than an African sunset and soon the sky darkens to a fluffy mauve and the moon rises, full and as red as a blood moon during eclipse. Under its eerie but red-blue glow we watch a lioness and her cub search silently for the evening meal. The temperature drops 15 degrees in half an hour so get rid of the duds from Milan. As various glorious animals dart, slink and prowl, its a powerful, intoxicating pull of all senses heightened while the ticker pounds furiously.
Our chamber , above ground exudes comfort. Chandelier, four-poster bed and open fire besides an old teak writing desk. Next morning curiously we are ravenous and breakfast hosted by chef Dylan is exceptional. Overall impression is if you are tired of safaris because its like watching through a protective layer of glass, than come here to feel close enough to wild nature around you.

We enjoyed everything about our stay. Dean, our guide was extraordinary. On the first day he showed us 4 of the Big 5 and on the second day we saw the lion (all 5). He tracked down the leopard on our first evening ! It was breathtakingly exciting. Our personal chef prepared gourmet food that was exquisite and our personal lodge was perfect including the fireplace and outdoor pool. Each staff member went out of their way to make sure that we had the best of everything and that we felt most welcome and cared for.
I have traveled to many exceptional places around the World including the former palaces and hunting lodges of maharajas, but Camp Jabulani was simply extraordinary. Their attention to detail and their personal service was remarkable and appreciated.
In addition to providing their guests with a magical safari experience they are committed to caring for the animals, especially orphaned elephants and they run the nearby Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre where they do extraordinary work.
Camp Jabulani is so much more than just a fabulous and exclusive safari lodge. Those are easy to find in Kruger. It provided the most exceptional experience that I have been privileged to enjoy.

There is a reason this is ranked as one of the finest lodging and safari experiences in the world. It is exceptional. Three couples stayed in the three rooms so the private Zindoga Village, where the facilities and services matched their 5-star rating. All meals were world-class by our private chef Dylan. Our safari guide Ryan Roos is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. If you can afford it come here!

I LOVED JABULANI!!!! It met every expectation - and greatly surpassed our expectations actually! I would say in many ways it was the HIGHLIGHT of our trip to South Africa and I highly recommend it to everyone! I love your conservation efforts and results, I know I will return which is amazing as with all the [laces on earth to go....to say nothing of Africa = how can one return to any place they have been? I simply can not imagine NOT going back!!
What an amazing staff! Our guide Dean was awesome, the animals were breathtaking.....and I loved Chef Alex - FABULOUS food and Cedrick (sp?) ....what an amazing man! The total embodiment of SERVICE at it's very best!
Thank you for making our trip a dream come true!

This is a gem! Our driver was amazing Rouen. He is great with the kids and his attitude iswonderful. The chef Alex is a fabulous chef and as my kids said several times, " this is the best (steak, hamburger, etc)."
The animals come close to the jeep but one feels safe, shockingly.
The only problem which was due to our idiot travel agent, Swain, was that we were not told that they had stopped the elephant safaris. My kids and I were very disappointed as that was the original reason we chose this place. The management at jabulani were so kind in trying to help.
It is an outstanding place with very kind people!
