We just had a wonderful stay at Pondoro Game Lodge. The whole experience was absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, all the staff was phenomenal. They were always making sure that we were taken care of and that we were enjoying our vacation.

Our chalet was beautiful! We enjoyed he view from the room and our outdoor bathtub did not disappoint. The game drives were amazing, and the guide and tracker did everything they could to make sure we saw animals and all the Bush had to offer. Like everything else, the food and presentation was wonderful.

We travel a lot and what sets this hotel apart from others is all the detail and special touches. The hotel knew we were celebrating our anniversary and therefore set up a private dinner in the wine cellar, and also set up rose petals and candles throughout our room. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning in the future. This is truly a South African paradise!

We had a marvelous time at Pondoro! The room was gorgeous and comfy.
One serious issue, especially for us of the senior generation, the boardwalks were a bit hazardous because of minimal lighting and no handrails. Maybe because we were on malaria prevention meds, we were a bit unbalanced and needed to use walking sticks to make sure we would not fall again! Even without being on those pills I would have found the boardwalks challenging because of having bifocal glasses. A sturdy handrail would be greatly appreciated.
Compliments to all the staff that make Pondoro such a magical destination. From the guides & trackers, office staff, maintenance, housekeeping, cooks, servers, and all the behind the scenes staff, everyone did their job to perfection! Thank you very much for providing the trip of a lifetime (being 68 and having traveled a fair amount to some pretty nice places - that’s high praise).

Tl;dr: Go to Pondoro!

We came to Pondoro for the last few days of our honeymoon, after having spent some time in the Seychelles. It was absolutely amazing, and by far the best part of our trip. The small hotel and low number of overall guests allows the experience to feel very personal, and also creates an atmosphere where all the guests can get to know each other while out on the safari drives, so it really felt like more of a party/group trip, which was pretty fun! Most of the other guests were also honeymooning couples when we went (although not all) and so all of us were happy to both chitchat and also to respect the honeymoon vibe. The rangers and trackers were very knowledgeable and friendly, with an amazing volume of information that they shared with us on the rides. The staff were very friendly, the food was amazing. Can't go wrong!

First came to Pondoro in 2010 ... have been back about every 2 years since. In the meantime we've been to many other game lodges. But Pondoro is by far and away our stand out, go to favorite! Liza and Robbie are such wonderful, gracious hosts. The chalets are all unique and beautifully appointed. Liza is a phenomenal chef and has a well-trained staff who prepare amazing food. The setting of the lodge on the Oilfants River is stunning ... one of the most beautiful and romantic dining experiences you could ask for. Make sure to arrange a picnic lunch at the hide overlooking a waterhole for a delightful afternoon. The rangers and guides are truly experts in tracking and understanding animal behavior. Start to finish, Pondoro is a magical place!

We had such an amazing stay at Pondoro. Top notch hospitality, game drive, food and rooms. If you’re looking to be pampered and be well taken care off, look no further. You will not regret this decision. We definitely do not. Thank you Pondoro for leaving such great memories in us.
