We stayed 3 nights the first week of November in Room 8. We are well travelled over the last 20 years but Leopard Hills might be the most amazing place we have ever stayed. The room overlooking the bush veld and watering hole was beautiful and exactly as pictured on their website. We could watch George, the resident hippo aas well as impala, buffalo and lions from our deck as they visited the watering hole. The staff at Leopard Hills are so friendly and helpful that I don't even know how to describe how pleasant they were. They made you feel like they had known you for a long time, always calling you by your first name. Two that stood out to us were Neville and Steve, but all were great. The owner, Duncan, and reception staff, Tammy, were clearly intent that you were having a great experience and that the lodge and game drives were meeting your expectations. They were very conversational and educational and enjoyable. The food is plentiful and you will not go hungry. The pace of your day is up to you but the schedule for the game drives, breakfast, lunch and dinner allows you anywhere from 2 – 2hr breaks to simply relax in your room or deck or up to 6 hours to do as you wish. I really wish we had scheduled at least two more days.
The game drives are obviously the main reason for going to Leopard Hills and these far exceeded our expectations. Hugo and Mowell were wonderful and on our first morning drive we saw all of the “Big 5”! Hugo was absolutely wonderful and educational telling us about each animal and their behavior and how the entire ecosystem of the bush land worked. He was humorous and always answered questions. Watching him and Mowell interact when tracking a leopard or the cheetah we found was fascinating. They clearly enjoyed what they do and were intent on giving their guests the best experience possible. I would strongly recommend Leopard Hills, without any reservation to anyone considering a safari trip and hope that we might be able to return some day.
