The only thing Chitwa Chitwa left to be desired is our next trip back. The lodge itself is enough for 5 stars without the game drives, which I’ll get to.
The lodge is absolutely beautiful. The accommodations and decor are high class while still perfectly complimenting the incredible backdrop of the bush and dam. The food is perfection and there’s certainly no shortage of it. We fell asleep every night to the sounds of hippos and monkeys; that combined with the most comfortable bed made for a great sleep every night.
The staff at Chitwa Chitwa are a treasure. We could not single out a member of the team because every person made us feel welcome and well taken care of. There was never a moment we felt we needed anything, but they weren’t overbearing either. As a lodge, we could not have asked for more, but the lodge somehow pales in comparison to our game drives with Deon and Moses.
We cannot speak highly enough of Deon, our guide, and Moses, our tracker. The respect that they have for the animals and for our planet is unparalleled and evident in all they do. They knew everything about every animal, insect and plant and were happy to answer the many, many questions we had. We saw the Big 5 in less than 24 hours and somehow each drive topped the one before. They ensured our safety and even when we weren’t at the peak of excitement, feet from a lion, we were having a blast driving off roads, in and out of drainage lines.
Deon, Moses and the staff at Chitwa Chitwa went above and beyond at every turn and we could not be more grateful.
