We had a fantastic day out with Mr Phuoc!

I had read about Mr Phuoc on a Trip Advisor forum which spoke very highly of him. Everything was seamless from first contact. Mr Phuoc was extremely prompt in replying to my email. We were able to arrange a tour with ease and one that suited our family.

On the day of our tour (20th October 2018) Mr Phuoc arrived with a driver and an immaculately clean air conditioned vehicle. We felt at ease right away. Mr Phuoc was so friendly and funny. He spent time engaging with our kids along the way too. Mr Phuoc's English skills are fantastic and he has a lot of knowledge about the island. Mr Phuoc's personable manner sets him apart from other tours.

Highlights included cable car, beach swim, pepper farm, coconut prison, snake conservation farm, Buddhist temple. We stopped by a local eatery to grab some local food which was delicious!

We would highly recommend doing a tour with Mr Phuoc! You will not be disappointed!!

I utilised the services of Phuoc for an around the island trip, smaller 'taxi' services to and from beaches and for a lift to the airport after our stay. Phuoc was always on time, drove very safely and provided commentary regarding sites and the history of the island. I can highly recommend Phuoc, he answers questions very promptly, is very competitively priced and will go out of his way to assist you and help you while you are on Phu Quoc.

We were visiting Phu Quoc as a couple and arranged two day trips through Phouc in early October - we were very happy with them both, and recommend going through him whether you are a tourist or business visitor.

The first day we spent driving to different places of interest to the south of the island. Phouc was friendly and punctual, and speaks English well. He was also very knowledgeable about the island and was generally good company. His driving was very good, safe and comfortable. The negative for us, both being fairly tall, was that Phouc’s saloon car ceiling was too low for us to sit comfortably. I’d recommend that if you’re also tall by Asian standards, talk to him about renting a larger car for your trip.

Phouc listened to what we were interested and not interested in seeing, and gave us good suggestions for our day, which worked out perfectly for us. We initially had in mind some places to see in the north, but based on Phouc’s advice changed our plans. It had been raining heavily so he advised against the forest trek and visit to starfish beach based on the difficult road and walking conditions, I was disappointed initially but the day worked out well and we got to see places that we really enjoyed.

We started off at the Sim alcohol factory then a fishing town which were fairly interesting. We then took the almost 8km cable car journey to Pineapple Island. We didn’t realise that there was a good souvenir shop at the end so missed out on some shopping - so if you’re looking to do that remember your wallet. The cable car ride was great. As it was low season we had the ride to ourselves both ways, which made a big difference. Some amazing views along the way. For us the best part of the cable car trip was the ride itself rather than the beach on the island, I guess we were spoiled by the privacy of the beach where we were staying at, as we found this one quite busy and touristy. The only negative about the cable car ride was seeing the plastic and other trash floating in the water and washed up on the coast in some places, hopefully Phu Quoc is able to keep on top of managing this as their tourist industry grows. Besides that it was a really good experience. We stopped briefly at the fish sauce factory, not so interesting, I thought we might see the process they use, but it is basically a warehouse with the big fermenting barrels in. After that we went to the Ho Quoc Pagoda which is an amazing and beautiful place- highly recommend you to go there and spend enough time to take it all in. We finished our trip at the snake farm, where they use the venom from the snakes to produce anti-venom. Not everybody’s ideal place to visit but I love snakes. My husband got to hold a snake for the first time ever (and Phouc held a (live) snake for the first time too).

We left the hotel at 9am and got back at 5pm from Chen Sea resort, which gave us plenty of time to see the places we visited without feeling rushed.

The next trip we took was a snorkeling trip. Phouc made all the arrangements for us and came along on the trip, making sure we were looked after. It was a good day. We arranged to be picked up by the boat from the beach at Chen Sea Resort. The boat was comfortable and the crew were friendly. We sailed up the coast to the north and started off with some time line fishing - lunch was the fish we caught and some other food prepared by the crew. Afterwards we stopped at turtle island (no turtles there) for snorkeling. We saw a lot of fish (watch out for the huge jelly fish though). We then stopped just off a beach and those of us that were capable swimmers swam to the shore. Although it was a beautiful spot, unfortunately the beach was covered in trash, so we didn’t stay there for long. Overall it was a very enjoyable cruise and wonderful to be picked up and dropped off by the boat. (Red River cruises).

Whatever you’re wanting to do on Phu Quoc I’d recommend talking to Phouc.

Dear J D,

Thank you very much for your good review on TripAdvisor!. I am very appreciate!.

I would like to share with you and all of my potential lovely Clients (in the future if seeing this message) some information as below:

We have “7,6 BILLION PEOPLE - 2018” and if you just imagine that: one person use just a Plastic Bag and one Can or a Plastic Bottle (Coke/Pepsi/Water...) then we have 15,2 BILLION of RUBBISH/DAY x 365 DAYS = UNCOUNTABLE

Most of the people in Developed Countries they DO KNOW how to keep the clean Environment but “MOST OF THE PEOPLE” in “UNDEVELOPED COUNTRIES” they “DO NOT” (THAT IS VERY SAD)...

Some people they just throw the Rubbish to the Rivers, then the Rivers take the Rubbish to the Oceans and then the Waves will take the Rubbish to the Beaches (every Beaches in the World)!.

On Phu Quoc Island we have the problem with the Rubbish, that’s True but “Some Educated People - less than 20% of the Population” - we are making some Environment Campaigns to Clean Up the Island, Clean Up Viet Nam... we are talking and sharing the Environment Stories with others people... to keep it cleaner DAY BY DAY - YEAR BY YEAR!

WE NEED TIME because we are developing country and we DID NOT have a GOOD EDUCATION SYSTEM...

If i am the Leader of Phu Quoc Island or the leader of Viet Nam then our country will the #1 Cleanest & Educated Country in the World!.

Believe me, our country WILL BE CLEANER!. Welcome back to Phu Quoc Island & Viet Nam to discover our Cultures, to see our beautiful landscapes and to try our healthy & delicious Foods!.

Warmest Regards,
From all the Staffs of Phu Quoc Daily Trips

My wife and I took a private tour around Phu Quoc with Mr Phouc (Guide) and Mr Son (Driver) on 19 October 2018.

Arrangements were made, entirely via email, to visit a number of locations (of our choosing) which were located across the island.

We were picked up from our Hotel right on the agreed time and visited the Fishing Village, Waterfall, Fish Sauce Factory, Pepper Farm, Northern Cape, Beaches and several Temples, before being returned to our hotel.

Mr Son always drove very carefully throughout the day and was ready and waiting whenever we exited an attraction or site. The car (a large Toyota Fortuner) was comfortable and well suited to tours as it is ‘high ride’ which makes it easy to get in / out of the seats. It also had controllable air conditioning vents to the rear seats as well.

Mr Phouc provided good commentary about the local sights, history and Vietnamese culture along with recommendations for other places to see at our leisure.

Throughout the day we never felt rushed for time and managed to avoid, for the most part, any large crowds. Partly because we visited in low season but also because the planning for which locations to visit at which time of day (to avoid crowds) was made by the Guide and Driver.

Anyone that has toured in Asia, in particular, will understand that many ‘cheap’ large group tour operators make money from ‘kickbacks’ paid to them by attraction operators. Essentially the guides are paid for bringing tourists to be ‘fleeced’.

This did not seem to be the case with Mr Phuoc. He and Mr Son took us to the places WE wanted to see and not just the places that we know ‘pay’ the guides.

This meant that there was never any pressure or hard sell at the places we visited (Fish Sauce Factory, Pepper Farm etc) which can make tours quite awkward. Many of the food / craft items that are offered, can not be taken back to our home country due to quarantine laws. So, refusing to buy can sometimes ‘offend’ the vendors.

In all, we had an enjoyable day with Mr Phouc who speak excellent English and Mr Son (who is learning Engish). We got to visit all of the locations that we had wanted to see AND more at the suggestion of the guys.

Would certainly recommend Mr Phouc and Mr Son for couples / families visiting Phu Quoc that want to avoid crowds and tourist traps and see the best parts of the island and to learn a little about island life, its history and its people.

We hired Phouc for the day with really no plans. He was able to suggest an itinerary and we could pick and choose as we pleased.

We decided on the Snake farm, Prison, Pearl Farm and Cable Car to Pinapple Island.

Phouc speaks great english and is a safe driver so if you are looking for a driver/ tour guide in Ph Quoc hit him up. You won't regret it.

Thanks for the great day Phouc.
