We were a group of 6 females travelling to Bali and therefore decided on a villa to accommodate our large group.
The villa is very nice – photos and description is pretty accurate. We were surprised to learn that staff are onsite 24/7 and it took us a couple of days to get used to this. By the end we were happy for the staff to cook us breakfast, order taxi’s, arrange for our washing to be done. The staff are all very helpful and lovely but Ayu was the best!
The bottled water dispenser is a real bonus.
The pool is lovely and it was great to be able to come back from exploring and relax around the pool.
I would like to see extra outdoor furniture as there are two sun loungers and a small bench seat in the shade (which you can’t move). If all 6 of us were outside, 4 of us had to sit on the paving or over on the bench seat. We all thought that was a bit weird given the number of people it can accommodate. The kitchen dining has a bench seat so you can’t really even take that outside.
Inside the lounge area is very comfortable with plenty of room for all of us. A few DVDs are there for your use. Upstairs shower is really good.
The “massage” room downstairs is scary and seems to suffer badly from a damp smell.
I was using a bedroom upstairs which opens to a loggia and the outdoors. The door to the rooms upstairs are glass sliding doors and my room was very difficult to lock and this also meant that there was a significant gap for mossies to get in. Not really what I wanted. It also did not seem terribly secure. Apart from that, the room was a good size and the bed very comfortable. Great airconditioning.
The big negative for us was the distance from the bustle of Legian This may suit some who want to be in a quiet, more suburban location but it was probably a good 15 to 20 minute walk to the beach. Take a taxi is a solution but not easy (see below issues). It would be very helpful to have some information about the villa and the best/most direct way to get into town. We all had phone data and therefore GPS but on our first walk “to the shops/Legian,” we had no idea of where to go.
Another huge issue for us was the road along the canal/river, immediately at the end of the street the villa is in, was undergoing massive works. I know this is nothing to do with the villa but it had a huge impact on our stay. On the day we arrived, the taxi dropped us off at the door of the villa. We went inside, dumped our cases, had a drink and then headed off for a walk into town. We stepped outside the villa to discover an approximately one metre wide and deep trench dug across our street, with paving rubble everywhere. All this had occurred in less than one hour from our arrival! We had to wait for the workmen to remove the debris to enable us to walk into the street. This was an enormous issue for our entire one week stay as EVERY single taxi struggled along the huge bumps and dips in this road. Many times the taxi had to let us out early for us to walk the remainder of the way. As compensation, the villa managers did offer us (two days before departing) a day tour of our choice but we already had plans for our last days so we swapped this for a transfer back to the airport. Given how cheap transport is in Bali, this was just a gesture of goodwill and certainly not equal in value to the problems it caused us. The villa is lovely but I would stay somewhere else when I next visit Bali only due to the location.
We had an awesome stay here. Pretty villa. The kids really enjoyed their stay here. House care taker Agung was the best! Really helpful and always cleaning the villa. Not like the others. Pool was great. The tap water is a hard water and it is slimy all the time. On overall, we loveeee this villa!
My group of friends and I had an amazing time at Villa Tepi Sungai. Everything was easy, a lot of privacy, good location, lovely staff that took care of us and a relaxing pool to chill out and have drinks.
Spent a week here with our another family and had a wonderful time. The villa is secluded and feels 'away from it all' but is only a short taxi drive from Seminyak and Kuta. The layout works really well for a large family or two families sharing, the staff are always on hand to arrange anything you need, and there is a massage room which is a great way of relaxing. Modern, high quality fittings and spacious rooms give a lovely overall feel to the property, and the open plan kitchen/diner/family room is a natural hub to the villa. Was hard to get the kids away from the pool though! Transport to and from the airport was easily arranged through the villa team as well which is one less thing to worry about on holiday.

My girlfriends and I had such a great weekend at the villa. We all had our own space to retreat to and the pool and living area were great for delicious meals and cocktails. The staff were so friendly and obliging. I will be coming back with my family next time and can't wait!
