We were on a 11 days biking tour of South Africa. This hotel has the most spacious rooms and wash rooms. It was close to shopping center. It has swimming pool which is rear for 3 star hotel. It was nice and clean hotel. Enjoyed the stay. As other hotels breakfast was very limited.

We headed out to Swellengrebel after making a booking to stay over that very morning. From reception to service staff the hotel was friendly and welcoming. Clean and comfortable and with the pool and kids area for play it was the best idea ever cause the adults finally could relax in the true sense of the word.

We had a short family breakaway and our kids loved the venue and freedom allowed at the hotel. Not a very modern hotel and gym not in a working order however all round very clean and helpful staff. Service very slow, so all you city slickers please beware not to expect too much as you will be disappointed. There was a shortage of towels at the poolside so please bring bring your own along. We enjoyed our experience and would certainly return again for a family getaway.

I visited the Swellengrebel 27 years ago and it was like stepping back in time somewhat. Loved the tranquility of the place and the staff were friendly and helpfull. Will definately recommend Swellengrebel to any1 who wishes to visit Swellendam.

The room in the hotel was clean and comfortable although a bit of variety on tv would have been great! They came late afternoon to clean the room, which I assume would have been cleared with the people staying there to find out a time that suits them? The breakfast was magnificent and the staff friendly and helpful. The amenities was well worth the visit. They have a Jacuzzi, gym and sauna on site (which unfortunately for us was locked the entire weekend we were there, not sure if it was under repair or not.....the sauna that is)
We would have liked to visit the berry farm but unfortunately it was raining on that particular day. The hotel is on the main road, so if you do not feel like utilising the sports bar (which has slot machines too and also utilised by the locals or the restaurant, they have an awesome fully stocked (with wood, charcoal, firelighters)braai area to utilise and supermarkets within walking distance to purchase your meat/salads.

Room Tip: Anywhere in the hotel is quiet. Should you book a chalet by the pool, it can get a bit noisy, but a good noisy with the kids enjoying it.
