We - a group of 20 golfers stopped off here for lunch on our way to Hermanus. Having eaten in many great restaurants in the southern cape and restaurants in our 5-star hotels for me this meal was one of the best we had on our trip.

Starter Onion soup - what an amazing dish the stock was so rich and flavoursome plenty of beautifully cooked onions. Once of the best onion soups I have ever tasted. Main course fish and chips again a simple dish beautifully cooked with homemade tartar sauce. Beautifully light crispy battered fish. Eloquent cooking.
Dessert Panna cotta I thought this was an amazing dish light with the right amount of wobble when touched. The whole meal was classical French cooking applied to some simple dishes - one of the standout meals in our month long stay in South Africa.

A brilliant classical french restaurant with a chef who is so classically talented in so many ways. Definitely worth the visit.

The warm welcome we got from the owner ..April was helping all tables with such a warm beautiful smile..smart she took over everything she explained the specials by heart..her smile. Her recommendation we have travelled but her service is the top notch ..we enjoyed our dinner ..the food was excellent it is place to visit ...Duck . Ostrich..lamb shank..Mussels and the chocolate tart all was well and again our pics she took thank you Bistro..

What a pleasant surprise to discover this gem in Swellendam! Restaurant is in a converted house, so atmosphere is relaxed and with warm welcome from Christelle herself. The food was superb - tasty with perfect portion sizes. French inspired but with a South African twist. Service excellent. Highly recommend.

We were greeted by Christelle and looked after by April - the food and service were second to none. It was amazing quality - thoroughly recommended. Very reasonably priced for what we got - I wish I could move you to England!

We stayed in Swellendam for a few days, searched for a restaurant that did not serve burgers or pizzas. Christelle's was recommended to us, wow! Beautiful flavoursome food, great presentation, happy atmosphere and Christelle was lovely. Her husband is a very talented chef. Our waitress deserves a 5 star complement too. She was knowledgeable, engaging and all round lovely. I would highly recommend you visit Christelle's if and when you are in Swellendam, you will not be disappointed.
