It may only be basically a tent on a wooden platform, but our honeymoon treehouse was magical accommodation in wonderful surroundings. It wasn't luxurious but it was a all we needed and well-equipped, with a big and comfortable bed, loads of indoor and outdoor space, and of course the amazing views.
The car from the next treehouse was parked only 20 yards from ours, but that was the only indication we had that we weren't the only people for miles around - they were so hidden round the corner by trees that we could neither see nor here them.
So sharing a bath with nothing but an open tent and a deck between us and acres of forest wasn't as daring as you might think. And who cares if the bath water was brown? It came from the river, which was the only eco-friendly option when there's a drought on. Solar heating during the day was enough to heat a whole bath by the evening, and I can't think of a better way to enjoy a sunset gin and tonic.
We only stayed one night - I'd say two would be ideal - and so didn't walk down to the river, but we did the forest walk, which was well maintained and well-marked, and enjoyed great views of the river below.
You have to go up to reception to get wifi, but that just emphasised how much we were in beautiful isolation
