Extremely disappointing. My wife and I visited this winery 5 years ago and had a fabulous experience. This visit began with 4 out of 9 wines being unavailable, with no Cape Classic option what so ever. Moving on to the seating area, we were greeted by a musician singing over prerecorded music at sound levels that had everyone shouting at each other to talk. The music played when the karaoke musician stopped was techno dance hall…a rave by the Breede River? The deli selection is now all prepackaged (vacuum packed) and not remotely fresh. Unfortunately, other than the beautiful scenery, I see no reason to visit this establishment.

This is a classy vineyard with an attractive restaurant and shop on the banks of the Breede river. You can buy picnic food and wine and take a river cruise that lasts about an hour. We were lucky that the boat was only half full and had a relaxing time in beautiful weather. Bring a hat and sunblock. It is very popular so visit on weekdays or before the crowds arrive.

My recent visit to Viljoensdrift restaurant was a huge disappointment. Upon arrival, we were left standing without anyone to greet us. When someone finally appeared, the lady who assisted us seemed to be having a bad day. She was not friendly, did not offer a smile, and was not service-oriented in the slightest.

We decided to go for a wine tasting, hoping that this would salvage our experience. However, even this was not enjoyable. After receiving our wine samples, we were left waiting for a long time for someone to provide information about the wines. When someone finally arrived, their explanations were extremely basic, and we were not provided with any additional information or insights about the wines that we were tasting.

Overall, the service at Viljoensdrift was extremely poor, with no effort made to make us feel welcome or valued as customers. The wine tasting experience was particularly underwhelming, with a lack of guidance or expertise provided about the wines on offer. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an enjoyable dining or wine-tasting experience.

You aren't allowed to bring your own refreshments, but able to purchase from their delicatessen to take onto the boat. Staff were friendly, sanitised rails and tables before we boarded. A gentle ride, with lots of birds and beautiful scenery.

Despite the fact that we had unfortunately booked the Viljoensdrift boat trip for the hottest day of our holiday it was very enjoyable. The trip takes about 50 minutes and you can take wines and food that you have purchased at the winery with you.
