Thank you to James and Kirsten for a wonderful stay. We had a beautiful room and with brilliant service. The bottling experience was a nice added touch to a wonderful weekend away. The breakfast was also delicious
It’s like visiting an old friend who makes you feel perfectly at home and spoils you rotten all at the same time. The house is a beautiful old home where you can relax, be it by the pool, playing chess in the lounge or riding the golf cart through the vineyards. The dinner is thoughtfully presented and delicious. James and Kirsten make sure that you want for nothing
Kirstin and her Team have got the right formula for a world class guest house. Décor and furnishings are magnificent the rooms are large and very comfortable especially the beds. The dinners with wine pairing are delicious especially the springbok carpaccio. And James was exceptional in ensuring that all our needs were met. It was my wife's birthday and Kirstin and Team really went out of their way to make it a fantastic experience.
We visited as two couples and stayed for the evening meal and wine as well as accommodation.
Rooms are very traditional, spacious and so comfortable.
The evening meal was delicious and the wine was almost certainly the best we had all experienced.
James our host was very accommodating and a pleasure to be around.
We had such a great time and would recommend anyone to visit and stay.
You won’t be disappointed
I contacted Kirsten with a request for a last minute booking. Her hospitality went beyond my expectations. We had the most amazing picnic lunch under the trees. The picnic included beef skewers, jalapeno poppers, chicken strips, figs, cheeses and a lovely salad. It was a hot day and I have to commend James on his service during lunch.
The rooms are spacious and I like the tiles in the bathroom. Our room had a bath and a shower. I liked the small treats like lavender sprigs, magazines, rosemary room spray and fluffy towels. A tea and coffee station is provided in the room and the dessert wine is a nice touch. I was happy with the quality of the bedding.
The wood flooring can be a bit noisy so ask for a room towards the end of the passage if you want to sleep during the day. With so much to see this might not be an issue. The pool area is lovely with views over the vineyard.
I enjoyed seeing the horses up close. They were grazing close to the deli. We did not go to the deli but it has a deck extending over the dam and should have nice views.
The cooked breakfast was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.
Kirsten and James should be treasured since they add value to any stay at Excelsior.
