Great place to stay, awesome views of the surrounding mountains, beautiful garden with honey birds abound, On a hot day the pool is an absolute must! Centrally situated to use as base to explore the area's wine farms and gateway to the Klein Karoo. During fruit season excellent produce can be bought from farm stalls in the area.

We always stop here when passing through Robertson. The hosts and staff go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Günter in the kitchen does magic and this shows through the dishes he serves. My guests loved the breakfast, very much upmarket style and a great stay, and one to recommend. The highlight for us is when Colin sings some of his African songs.

Long live Gubas de Hoek

Thanks for all the good service to date...

Dear valued guest

thank you very much for your wonderful feedback.
We’re happy to hear, that we could create a ‘home from home’ for you and you enjoyed Gunther's cooking and Collen's singing.
It is very much appreciated and a motivation for us and our dedicated team to continue in the same way.

My husband Michael and I stayed here on Sunday 22 february, the hosts were friendly, and the room was very nice, nicely furnished with good quality bedding, set in a lovely garden. We had a swim in the pool which was very refreshing, and slept well after a good dinner at Reuben's. The next morning we were served a breakfast which was quite frankly the worst I have ever had. My "continental" was rye bread, white rolls and jam. Michael's full South African (I think it is described as a "feast" on the website) consisted of 2 eggs, 2 small sausages, a piece of tomato and one slice of toast. No bacon, no mushrooms....Breakfast is extra so it was R40 for mine and Michael's was R70. It was extremely poor value for money. The least they could do for that price is provide bacon and mushrooms and a decent serving of toast! We own a restaurant ourselves and I would have been ashamed to put a breakfast like that in front of someone and charge that price for it. I notice on the reviews that no-one else has complained about this, but for us it spoiled what was otherwise a very pleasant stay.

Dear valued guest,

Thank you very much for your feedback and your input, which is very much appreciated.
We’re sad to hear, that we did not succeed to create you a home from home in terms of our breakfast

We do have a combination between self-catering and bed & breakfast.
For those guests, which have chosen the option room only on their booking, we do offer this breakfast menu for their convenience.
Sweet continental R40
Bottom less English tea or freshly brewed coffee,
toast, butter, homemade jams and honey.
South African breakfast @ R 70
Sweet continental breakfast and
two eggs of your choice with crispy bacon, sausage, tomato and mushrooms
or
omelette with cheese and tomato
Fit & healthy @ R 85
Continental breakfast with orange juice,
a variety of fresh fruits, yoghurt with fruit sauce and muesli,
breadbasket with rolls and a delectable choice of local cheese
GUBAS DE HOEK full breakfast @ R 120.00 (ordered as B+B R105)
is a feast and includes continental breakfast, orange juice, a variety of fresh fruits, yoghurt with fruit sauce and muesli, a delectable choice of German cold meats, salami, ham, local cheeses, bread basket with fresh rolls and eggs and bacon of your choice

Things could be so easy!
Please don’t hesitate to inform your waiter or host, while you’re there and give them the change to serve you, what and as much as you really like.
We serve our breakfast and it is our philosophy: “There is nothing better than something really good.”
Although if one choose the breakfast from the menu, we serve as much eggs, bacon, sausage, toast and so on as one likes, if we’d know about it.

I’ll gladly send you a breakfast voucher to make you happy on your next stay with us.

Kind regards
Balbina Huerttlen

Gubas de Hoek is an awesome place to just relax when you want to get away from your everyday routine, ór maybe you just want to destress. Belbina and her staff is just awesome. My husband and I had a wonderful experience. Thank you Belbina and Gunther.
