“Great Location - But Noisy, Rather Tired and A Little Grubby”

We stayed for 3 weeks during our annual road trip of 40 nights/11 properties, so this review is relatively objective.

The location cannot be faulted, literally being a walk over the road to the beach, with a wide variety of restaurants, bars, supermarkets and shops being within easy walking distance.

Easily found in town with an excellent, secured underground car park. 24 hour security is on site.

The check in process is simple - the agent (in the same building) gives you a car park plan and the keys - off you go.

It's a well equipped spacious ground floor apartment, albeit with no sea view, but a sheltered and pleasant enough patio garden. All of the kitchen appliances worked OK and there is a new Weber braai in the garden.

There's a very good indoor swimming pool on the roof and a decent enough gym next door ( the latter at extra charge as advertised). Please note that the gym is directly adjacent, and for some reason the sound from the gym travels through into the bedroom, so be prepared for banging and clanking of weights/loud conversations early (0630) in the mornings - apart from weekends that is.

However, it's apparent that every area in the apartment needs some refurbishment and cleaning. The small shower room ( in relation to the rest of the apartment) is grubby, needing as a minimum a really deep clean and ideally a regrout or refit.
All of the furnishings are showing signs of wear and tear. A deep clean of the sofa covers and curtains is required. The basic patio furniture is rickety in the extreme, to the extent that one chair collapsed beneath me.

Bed linen is OK, but again, is due for replacement.

The kitchen area works well.

Unlike the photographs, the place does not feel light and airy, rather it's dingy and grubby.

This apartment could be stunning ( we saw others in the building) with not a lot of effort or money involved. We both felt that in it's current condition that it didn't offer value for money.

Will we stay again ? No, even if action is taken as above, due to the early morning gym noise.

The rating is average rather than poor due to the location, parking and swimming pool.
