Dario and Rosella have a winning formula in their restaurant. The vibe is always great as it is a real locals hangout. I'm a regular patron and one always sees the same faces, both at the tables and behind the counter. The fact that their staff have been with them for years speaks volumes, and this is just one of the reasons the patrons keep returning. It is hard to say what is recommended on their menu as it is all great. Breakfast, pasta's, burgers and especially their pancakes are all delicious, well prepared meals. If you are a lover of a Red Velvet cake then you have to go try Rosella's family recipe. Consistency of product, service and experience is key in the restaurant trade and Dario's has it sorted.

We had a late lunch here and were very impressed with the pleasant relaxed atmosphere eating on the balcony. There was free Wi-Fi which several people were using during coffee. My burger was delicious with numerous additions to the meat in a large soft bun. As others have said, the coffee is excellent. This is a great small café with high quality food - and all at very good prices!

Breakfast here is highly recommended, as is the coffee. The locals hang out here and the vibe in the mornings is great

What an awesome cafe. Dario, Rosella (let's not exclude young Matteo, hope I spelt that right) and staff are all friendly and welcoming, making you feel like a part of the larger Italian family. Just wish I could speak the lingo, but luckily, I don't need to be, or speak, Italian in order to enjoy the warmth of the cafe or the delicious food. If you have a sweet tooth then you should try the pancakes and the scones. For those of us who prefer tea with our scones, even though Dario's is a renowned Hout Bay coffee spot, one can order a decent pot of tea. You might have to endure a small amount of ridicule for doing so, but it's all in good humour. If you visit Hout Bay, or if you enjoy fine Italian fare, this cafe is a must-do on your list.
