My family and I went to the Indian Oven for a celebratory meal. It was simply amazing. We shared 3 different curries and could not agree on what was the best of the 3. The mix of flavours joined into a real taste sensation.
We had been advised by knowledgeable foodie friends that this was the best Indian restaurant in Cape Town, so though it was a bit of a trek for us, we decided to try it. I don’t have enough experience of other restaurants to make the same claim, but it is certainly the best one I have been to in South Africa, and rivals some of the places my son and I went to in Delhi.
Sitting outside, with lots of space, also made us feel safe in the context of Covid19, together with the fact that the staff all wore their masks correctly and continually.

Sorry, no , one of the worst Indian meals I have Had worldwide. The chef’s mint chutney for the popadoms was a thin watery false green with no taste. I had vindaloo and jalfreze which used exactly the same tasteless sauce which just left a raw spice taste in the mouth and the spinach and panneer vegetable dish which was almost inedible because it was so bitter and although ordered medium was actually hotter than the vindaloo. Naan was about as thick as a pancake and rubbish. Ended up throwing it all away, should have took it back but the wife put it in the garbage before I could box it back up to return it . NOT RECOMMENDED

This restaurant comes very near to the British Indian restaurants I’m use to. Poppadoms, raita & chutney. A good selection of various curries. I ordered the Chicken Kadui , hot ! It was really delicious. The rice portions are large and enough to share. Innocent is a fantastic waiter & helps you decide which curry will suit your tastebuds best... The bar also serves alcohol free beer for customers who are the designated driver. We will definitely be back.
