Tucked away in a quiet corner of Hout Bay Quentins at Oakhurst is a hidden gem that will transport you to a world of culinary wonder. As soon as you step inside, you'll be struck by the eclectic decor that's equal parts vintage charm and quirky whimsy. Think antique chandeliers, vintage decor, and a colorful mishmash of artwork that will keep your eyes wandering.

But it's not just the decor that's quirky – the menu is full of unexpected delights, too. From the peri peri squid starter to the mains, loin of kingklip perfectly prepared on a bed of spinach and pea mash topped with olives, to the Mozambican prawn curry every dish was a surprise, my taste buds were in heaven. And don't even get me started on the desert, the real star of the show. The pear and almond tart with saffron infused honeycomb icecream.

The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive servers who made sure our glasses were always full and our plates were never empty. The chef's commitment to using locally sourced ingredients shines through in every bite. Chef Quentin has cooked for international royalty and for our very own Nelson Mandela and I certainly was treated like a queen from the moment I walked in. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with a touch of elegance and nostalgia.

Came here a few times, as a couple, and with friends and each time was wonderful. When we were a group one evening there was some load-shedding going on (power outages) but the staff simply adapted and made the experience just as good, but with more candles! The fillet steak is simply to die for and cooked to perfection. Sunday lunch is good, too, a buffet with an intriguing range of things to choose them. One of my favourite places in SA, and Quentin is jolly good fun, too. Deffo book a trip back come the winter and our return.

As previous reviews (we’re’locals’) Quentin’s is only a delight. Culmination of UK visitors trip ending on a high - the food, service, ambience, eclectic decor is worth a trip of itself, don’t miss out!

Ambience and service was good. The duck - expensive- was days’ old food, warmed up barely as were the vegetables with a sour jus. Worst duck and meal ever. Didn’t complain. When one does there is a “scene” and the evening is ruined.

Wine list is mostly esoteric and expensive.

My first experience was dismal.

A well decorated barn setting in Hout Bay. The meal was well cooked and enjoyable. But the overall experience was disappointing as our waitress appeared angry and it seemed a great effort to serve us. It seemed she was unhappy in her job and could possibly have had a problem with another staff member. In addition, the man behind the bar (possibly a manager) seemed harassed and stressed. Perhaps they were understaffed? All in all, we felt so uncomfortable that we did not stay for desert.
