If you are looking for a quaint lovely home away from home, look no further. Hout Bay Beach cottage has is all. Spacious with 3 bedrooms, large garden, pool and at the same time very cosy with a fire place, plenty of personal touch and a good feel and vibe in every room. I only stayed for 5 days but upon departure I was yearning to live there! Will definitely be back sooner than later. Thank you for the perfect relaxed stay.
We had a great stay at this property. It was comfortable for 6 adults with plenty or room for dining and sitting. Good equipment in the kitchen too. We especially enjoyed the outside seating and lounging. There was shade much of the time so we enjoyed some very warm days in the garden.
The location is good for shops and restaurants. We didn't have a car but didn't experience a problem walking to the supermarket and getting taxis back when the shopping was heavy.
It's easy to arrange tours from Hout Bay and the tourist bus is close by.
Because of the drought in Cape Town we were unable to use the pool which was a disappointment but completely understandable.
We didn't use the dishwasher so washed up very carefully in a bowl in the sink; sometimes we used bottled water to conserve supplies.
We took extra clothes to avoid using the washing machine but did have to run it twice due to spills. We used the quick wash cycle.
Unpleasant smell in garden from time to time which we understand is due to a fishmeal factory near the harbour.
Noise from 6am Monday-Friday from the gym next door. We could hear slam-balls and voices. People obviously working-out at the start of the day. Our bedroom was close the gym and we had windows open. Gym must have had doors open.
We arrived after a long flight from the UK, and a relatively short drive from the airport and were so glad we had chosen this property for our first few days in Cape Town. Ideally located near to the beach and local restaurants and shops, we found it very easy to unwind and settle into our holiday. The cottage was very well equipped and maintained, and had a lovely small pool which was ideal for our 17 month old granddaughter. The pool had a safety screen which meant the four of us could relax in the delightful garden without worrying about the baby running about close to the pool. Quiet residential area, and some excellent restaurants close by that all catered for small children. We also enjoyed our own BBQ one night. Our only regret was that our stay of three nights was far too short. Hope to return one day for an extended stay to explore a lot more of Cape Town (easy 30 minute drive) and this property would be first on our list. Friendly owner who greeted us on arrival and maid service made the stay very enjoyable.
