We tried their standard wine tasting which was very inexpensive. Quality of the wines was ok, but nothing special or noteworthy

We had reservations for the 90-minute food and wine tasting at La Motte. The pairing of 5 wines with 5 bites of food beautifully presented on custom-made ceramics created by local artists. The history of the wines, foods and the local artists were all explained in detailed. This was one of our highlights of our 2 week vacation in South Africa and truly memorable. The wine estate is absolutely beautiful and definitely worth a visit. They have a free museum too. If you are driving here using a GPS, please note that it lead us to the wrong location, the winery/hotel next door. So if you are coming from Cape Town N1 direction and the GPS tells you to turn into La Motte but the sign says something else, then ignore it and continue down the road until you actually see the clearly marked sign for La Motte Winery before turning in. Evidently, the people at the wrong place we turned into said it happens all the time, faulty GPS directions.

This is the nicest setting for wine tastings ever. Tried 4 red and 4 whites and they we’re fabulous. It is hard to choose where to visit when in Franschhoek as there so many excellent vineyards, but this one is a must

The first thing that struck me at La Motte was how incredibly beautiful the grounds are. It was our first vineyard in South Africa and I was very impressed with how well presented the gardens and then the tasting room were. It's very sophisticated.

We didn't eat here so I can't comment on food, but we tasted a few wines and the experience was great. The staff were friendly, engaged and shared their detailed knowledge of the wines.

There is a hiking trail that loops around the estate. It's not for anyone not sure on their feet with some steep sections over boulders. But I'd reccomend it as it provides beautiful views over the vines.
