We booked for lunch. We found the chef was unwilling to change the menu in any way. For example if you don't like garlic they just say you can't have it. The also had no house rose wine as they had run out. After ordering four different times and being told that the chef would not change the ingredients we decided to pay for our drinks and leave. We had the impression that this restaurant was living off it's once impressive reputation and had lost it's customer care touch. We had a much better meal at Dieux Donne restaurant nearby where the view was better, the staff were nicer and it was cheaper.

We first went to La Petite Ferme in 1999 and have been back once or twice a year since. We got engaged there, have had birthdays and anniversories there and will always go back there. The owners and staff are wonderful, the views amazing and the wine and food are excellent. The cottages are beautifully done with their own plunge pools, fireplaces - even the view from the baths is fantastic.

Stunning views, beautiful room and private pool, comfortable room, amazing restaurant, great wine tour. Only downside is that the staff knock off at 7pm and we needed an iron board and could not get one. Simple solution is to provide ironing boards. i did recommend this on check out so we shall see if they listened.

Loved it and would definitely go back - very relaxing.

We came for lunch and it was wonderful. The decor is beautiful and the views are truly fantastic, but I did feel slightly dissapointed with what we ate.
I think I made a bad choice for lunch as I chose Salmon which I sometimes have trouble with (and I eat anything!) but salmon sometimes seems to be odd so maybe I am not being fair but I was not overjoyed with what I ate. (Sometimes I absolutely LOVE salmon)
My husband had the Pork roll which was a huge portion but I personally did not think it tasted amazing - but it was good. It is not cheap by its neighbours standards.
The views are breathtaking and as I said before our overall opinion of it was that it was wonderful - but wonderful can be improved upon......

La Petite Ferme should not be rated 3/5 but we felt they were relying too heavily on location, restaurant and past success. The location is fantastic. Some rooms are practically on the vineyard and look over the rolling hills of Franschhoek. The main hotel rooms are relatively comfortable and we had a nice plunge pool outside. There are also large self catering rooms on a separate part of the property. They overlook a small lake and the garden is beautiful but the beds are very uncomfortable and the rooms are generally worn.

The hotel has a relaxed feeling and you can be comfortable there. We were disappointed mainly because there is so much potential. A few things like good mattresses and pillows, freshly painted walls and real deck chairs would make all the difference. The service was always pleasant but there were dramatically reduced working hours over the holiday which was a bit crazy for a hotel of this quality. They seemed understaffed and rushed so sometimes forgot things but the manager was very kind and helped where she could.

The restaurant is very good but as was the case at many places, the service is questionable and very slow. Be prepared for a 3hr lunch over the holidays.

I would be concerned that the hotel will continue to decline. It’s a real shame as La Petite Ferme should be a gem.
