Chef Richard Carstens is able to delight with his cuisine. Richard is in a business partnership with successful chef Reuben Riffel. This place at Chamonix in Franschhoek, deserves a visit. Newly opened Arkeste, replacing the old Chamonix Restaurant, is a wonderfully designed place. Its cellars, its placing, its views, are just superbly thoughtout. Samantha arranged a wonderful wine tasting. Manager Jeremy and his team are very efficient and give you a warm welcome. Well designed to be appreciated both in warm and cold weather, this is a place that deserves a visit. We were delighted. We will certainly be back!
We decided to try the recently opened Arkeste Restaurant for dinner last night and it was superb! Richard Carstens is as brilliant a chef as ever, (we remember him from Tokara) and every plate was amazing to look at and the tasted sublime! Look out for the Baked Alaska Smoked Trout with Smoked Salmon Ice cream, delicious! The service was slick and the staff warm and friendly! We are locals and are delighted to welcome Richard and his team to our beautiful valley, so rich in culture and cuisine. We will certainly be back for more!
