The Protea hotel Franschhoek is a delightful oasis perfectly located in town. It is a short stroll to a myriad of boutiques and restaurants. The on site Hussar Grill is one of the best restaurants in the winelands. The hotel decor is beautiful and charming, the welcome is warm and embracing. The rooms are generous and bright with heavenly beds. We stayed for 3 nights and we look forward to returning.

I only have 2 issues with the hotel. My husband is a platinum member and when we booked you could clearly see that we are 2 adults and 2 children. We were given 2 separate rooms. I cannot understand why the staff could not think or ask us if we would prefer a room with an interlinking door? And the second is that they do not cater for gluten or lactose intolerant guests. In their defence they did try and help but the local pick n pay didn’t have any and the Woolworths and checkers was too far for them. I should have asked for this in advance but being a Protea I thought that they would have been prepared as they were in joburg.
But otherwise the hotel was clean and very comfortable. An absolute pleasure. Staff were friendly and lovely.

What an amazing weekend escape we had into the beautiful county side of Franschhoek.
The Protea Hotel is the perfect get away to put your feet up, switch off your mind and enjoy a lovely bottle of wine from a highly impressive wine collection with a delicious meal at the Hussar Grill, the beautiful restaurant onsite.
Rooms are superbly decorated with State of the Art equipment and super comfortable beds to rest for a good nights sleep.
All the staff are very well trained and the courtesy to attend to all your needs is just phenomenal and nowadays rare to find.
We'll definitely visit again and would highly recommend the Protea Hotel to friends and family as well as anyone looking for an extremely clean & looked after, well priced and friendly place to spend quality time away from home.

Beautiful hotel, really pleased this is our last stop, the receptionist was terrific, really helpful.
The meal we had in the hotel was superb and I want to make a special mention for Tembi, our waitress, who was friendly, courteous and extremely helpful and welcoming. Her recommendation on the wine helped to create a very special and memorable evening. Try the vodka chocolate - OMG it was fabulous.
