These tents are amazing. They sit above the dry river bed and offer complete privacy. It is an unfenced camp and we had lion walking very close by the one evening. Some of the tents need some love and care, but i believe that is happening as I write. They are well configured and there is a small pool at reception.

We stayed here for 2 nights in February......the tent, bathroom, and kitchen tent were fine...the staff was very helpful....the main problem was the HEAT....we brought a very, very small battery operated can with us.....didn't help at all...sleeping was a major problem....the pool was just OK....the chairs were covered with bird poop....I understand where we were, but someone could clean them off once in awhile...we had 2 adorable black back jackals visit with us everyday and night....great place to stay, but come in cooler times

Love staying in this camp as you are surrounded by peace, bush and wildlife with put the hustle and bustle of a a main camp. The tents are well equipped and looked after but are way overdue a refurbishment. However this does not affect your stay. We take a umbrella with us to put up at the front door where we sit as there is never shade over the “patio” area

As safari newbies we didn’t know how a “tented camp” looks like. Our travel office just told us to bring food and water, because there is no restaurant at Mata Mata inside the park, and one shouldn’t drink water from the tap.

With the picture of small triangular tents still in mind we were pleased, when they showed us “our room”. It looked rather like a bungalow, but sported heavy tent fabric as walls. The room offered four beds and the kitchen was housed in a separate “tent”. Both cubic structures were connected by a veranda with a view on a waterhole (where in the following two days and nights there was always something going on: ostrichs, giraffes, jackals, oryx, springbocks and colorful birds).

No Internet access was provided, and electricity for the lights and even for the small fridge was solar; we did not find any standard 220V South Africa-Namibia outlets. The kitchen stove ran on gas.

This tented camp is located inside the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and park restrictions apply. At sundown the friendly guard came by the house to make sure that the fence surrounding our “tents” including our car was closed and locked, as guests are not allowed outside the houses at night.

Soon after we had the visit of a black-backed jackal running through under the veranda, but, no, the lions did not honor us.

Room tip: Tented camps No 7 to 9 have a good view on the waterhole

This is an unfenced tented camp within the Kgaligadi reserve. The site we stayed at has a tent that slept 6 with an ensuite toilet and shower. The Kitchen was in a separate tent. The tents lead out to a balcony overlooking a waterhole. Although this is in the middle of nowhere there is still solar electric lighting and hot water and cooking is supplied via gas.
We braaied every night whilst watching for animals. We mainly saw jackals who have a den near by. We seemed to be part of their "border patrol" at night. There were also 3 golden mongoose who obviously lived beneath the tent. It was an absolute delight to look up and find them sitting close to you ontha balcony.
This is definitely a place to visit again

Room tip: They are tents with a view. cannot be compared to sleeping in a room. I prefer the tent atmosphere
