!Xaus Lodge Review

Review of !Xaus Lodge

A home away from home, WOW, what an experience it was. Great service, good food, warm hospitality. Being in the outdoors away from the modernity's of life touches the soul! Would love to come visit again, this time with my family.

We stayed at !Xaus Lodge at the end of May. The road to the lodge alone is an experience but you can also use the transfer service.
At !Xaus you are away from everything. No internet no cellphone just Kalahari dessert, clear skies and beautiful views the milky way .
Food was very good taking in mind that everything that they use must be brought in from outside the park which takes a day up and down.
Friendly and attentive staff, clean rooms so nothing to complain.

The lodge is situated in my favourite place - the Kagalgadi. It was a wonderful experience, the people are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable.
What was outstanding was the walk and trips with the local guide. His knowledge of plants and ability to spot animals is excellent and our guide also had a sense of humour that had us giggling at times.
I can definitely encourage South Africans (and others) to pay a visit to !Xaus Lodge. The sundowner trip is not to be missed.

Excellent service coupled with a unique location. Staff was seen to be very helpfull and friendly. No effort was spared to accommodate us.
A once in a lifetime experience.
Highly recommended., yet bear in mind that access is rather off-road, although they provide off-road transport to get to the lodge.

The drive in is beautiful, and the lodge is well situated. The common areas are well furnished, but are in need of updates and refurbishment. The cottages are beautiful inside, but could do with a lick of paint on the outside. Water was a problem while we were there, as the desalinator was being repaired, but made no difference to our stay. The food is very good, and the staff are all amazing - helpful, knowledgable and willing to go the extra mile at all times.

For everyone who loves a unique experience, way out in the wild, but with luxury accommodation, excellent food, (no internet in itself, a luxury.) and a cultural, star gazing and game experience in a class by itself, this can only be recommended as a must.
Sue and Antony's love of place added greatly to our enjoyment. As did Castro our exceptional San guide.
We received a small container of red sand on departure that read
"No road to the heart is smooth and easy but when you reach your destination, it is well worth it."
("!Xaus means Heart in the Nama Language' )We endorse this to the fullest.
