Fantastic location. The garden is very romantic. Goes from misty mystery in the mornings to spectacular views when the sun opens up. The dinners are amazing. Be aware portions are large and that you do not have to have all of the courses as billing is itemised if you do not take all four courses. The winelist has some niche gems, which was also impressive. Be sure to ask staff to check your room for hot water availability prior to your arrival. Rooms are rustic, spacious and very relaxing, but room prep can be a bit lackadaisical. Flip side is staff are always happy to top up your coffee or change a candle or anything of such nature that needs addressing. You are in the woods so the odd insect will make an appearance. I really loved our stay, extending it to a third night after finding accomodation midway on the trip back to Joburg became too much admin.

We came, we saw, we dined, and Kings Walden conquored us. Piece of advice to management: Find a way to keep the poolside sunbeds protected from the monkeys who also seem to make use of them when vacant.

I had a very enjoyable stay here in February. The rooms are large, the bed very comfortable. A very friendly welcome and good service.
The gardens are interesting and extensive, if a little overgrown in places, which adds to the charm somewhat. Also a large swimming pool with magnificent views. There is a dirt road for nearly a kilometre to reach the hotel.

First impressions of this property are extremely favourable. It is set in beautiful grounds with a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Sunset was stunning! My bedroom was very spacious and well furnished. The bathroom however left a lot to be desired. Maintenance was very poor and using the facilities for one night was more than enough.
Dinner was an unusual affair. The dining room was lovely and the food good but regular power cuts were annoying to say the least. The property does have its own generator but it does take a little while to kick in.
Finally, I recommend keeping cash and valuables with you at all times as my room did not appear to have a safe.

Room Tip: Check the bathroom before unpacking.

This guest house was an unexpected delight. Set up in the hills, with an amazing view, the gardens were fabulous. They are old and crumbling which added to the charm. The whole site is stunning. I suspect the image of the exterior of the goes house may put people off - don't be! Inside the rooms are delightful - ours had an open fire, comfy seating, lovely big bed and bathroom. The food was outstanding - both dinner and breakfast were superb. We would definitely want to stay here again.
