There is only 2 noticeable people on floor duty over a weekend one being the Barman receptionist ext . We weren't welcomed at reception there was no one there for about 10 minutes eventually he arrives and "shows us around" this is the restaurant and this is your room the end.
No turn down service is offered so taking a nap in the afternoon results in a unmade room for the evening. The rate is to high for what you get and you have to have a manager present at some stage of your stay

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review of our hotel, constructive comments are always welcome. We remember you well as well as having long in depth conversations with you and the various

We take pride in our business and hospitality is our passion. We always ensure that one of us (or most often all three of us) are there in the morning till about 11 and then again from 5 we are available. The reason we are not there in the afternoon is because we have a small macadamia farm down the road where we also have cottages that we attend to but most importantly we are most probably in town buying fresh ingredients we literally only buy fresh each and everyday. Our staff are highly competent and treat all our guests like family. We do apologize that you did not have the experience you wished for at our piece of heaven.

We would love to have you back and hope for a satisfying experience.

Regards
Minette

We stayed here overnight on our way to the Kruger National Park. Superb setting in a spacious and immaculate garden with tremendous views. Fine dining, spacious bedrooms beautifully decorated. The overall amenities, lounge, bar, dining room have been decorated in a comfortable and friendly manner. The staff are all well trained and very friendly and attentive without being overbearing.

The lodge has a wonderful view to the mountains, probably one of the best in the country. I could spend hours to enjoy. There is some mystery around the lodge, especially for the famous dead tree. The rooms are spacey, unfortunately nobody bothered to lighten the fireplace, hence the night was quite cold. Dinner and drinks pricey, so I preferred a lekker T-Bone steak in Tzaneen Spur for a third of the price. The breakfast was rich and very good. All in all highly recommended due to the wonderful location - t would be still better, if the staff could heat the rooms.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful and the food is delicious but attention to detail is lacking, especially for the prices charged. We booked this hotel as a special treat and were a little disappointed with the service received. It was only small things, for example -
* The rooms are freezing and after we used our wood for the fire, it was never replaced
* No Shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom
* Although tea and coffee are supplied in the rooms, there was no milk and nothing was replaced after use.
* There is no information on the local area available. When we asked about the information on their website, we were told it was 3 years out of date and not relevant any more.
* The food is fantastic. You get no choice, which was no problem for us, but we were served the same main course on the first and third (our last) evening there.
We did point these issues out to the management and they gave us 2 bottles of wine off our bill which was nice. It's just a shame as it could easily be outstanding with just a bit more care and attention from the owners.

Kings Walden is more a boutique hotel than the B & B it lists itself as. Although finding the hotel was a little tricky, the stunning gardens and views over the valley and Drakensberg Mountains more than made up for it. The food is really delicious, service was great and the owners have obviously worked hard at making this small hotel well worth stopping off at. It's surrounded by mango, avocado and macadamia plantations and very interesting to anyone horticulturally inclined. Would thoroughly recommend it!

Room Tip: As for a room overlooking the valley for great sunsets
