Gustav Stickley's Craftsman Farms is where he lived and photographed his ideal "arts and crafrs" lifestyle, 100 years ago. Originally a 600+ acre farm, the buildings and land are now maintained as a lovely park - an oasis of calm just 3 miles from I287 off Rt.10W. The docents give in-depth tours 4 days a week, noon to 4. In good weather, bring a picnic lunch to eat at one of the outdoor tables.

I only stopped here on a tour bus trip. I had heard of the Craftsman style (no, its not Sears!) but never knew of its origins. This was a great tour, every staff member seemed to love their subject, Stickley, and loved telling us everything they could about him and his family. Very informative and enjoyable.

The Stickley Museum is a wonderful tribute to Gustav Stickley specifically and the arts and crafts movement in general. Exhibits change regularly, many special events throughout the year. The tour is excellent and very informative. Museum membership is a tremendous value. Gift shop has many interesting items and is a great place to do holiday shopping. Stop in and visit!!

The house is interesting and the woodwork is delightful. However, the tour is poorly paced and way to long at about 90 minutes although it is advertised as 75 minutes. Too much time time is spent outside and too little time upstairs. There is a lot of standing around. The tour guide provided way too much detail about every single item in the house and did not allow people to wander at all making it feel like I was on a class trip. A little too controlling. However, it is still worthwhile. After the tour we wandered around the area where there are other Stickley buildings.
